Job summary

Expian Technologies is seeking a senior Java developer in Bengaluru to design and implement scalable microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Kafka. You will work with PostgreSQL on AWS and contribute to architecture decisions, API integrations, and code quality.

Strong OO design, SOLID principles, and daily use of AI tools are valued. You will collaborate in an Agile environment with CI/CD, Docker/Terraform tooling, and monitoring practices, contributing to enterprise-scale systems

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with Spring Data JPA / Hibernate.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven microservices.
• PostgreSQL with AWS RDS, SQL tuning and DB design.
• AWS deployment experience (ECS/ECR, S3, API Gateway, CloudFront).
• Maven build/dependency management, Git and JIRA in Agile.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and common patterns (REST, queues).
• Strong OO design, SOLID, hexagonal architecture, abstraction.
• Experience using AI development tools in daily workflow (not just prompts).
• Enterprise-scale systems and AWS infra experience a plus; AWS cert a plus.

Key Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer with Java and Spring Boot.


• Experience with Spring Data JPA / Hibernate.


• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven/asynchronous microservices.


• Experience with PostgreSQL (including AWS RDS PostgreSQL), SQL performance tuning, database design, and normalisation.


• Working knowledge of AWS for application deployment, including ECS/ECR, S3, API Gateway, and CloudFront.


• Experience with Maven for build/dependency management.


• Working knowledge of Git and JIRA in an Agile/Scrum environment.


• Experience developing and integrating with third-party APIs (both consuming and creating APIs).


• Familiarity with common integration patterns (e.g., REST, message queues).


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns (e.g., SOLID principles, hexagonal architecture).


• Excellent software design skills with strong abstraction and modelling capability, and the ability to make independent architectural decisions.


• Experience already using modern AI development tools (e.g. OpenAI Codex, Claude Code) as part of daily workflow, with genuine depth on configuration, evaluation, and effective use (e.g., memory/context management, token usage, multi-agent setups) not just prompt-level usage.


• Prior experience with enterprise-scale systems and AWS infrastructure is a major plus.


• Having an AWS certification is a plus.

Nice to have:

• CI/CD pipeline experience.


• Experience with Docker for containerization and Terraform for infrastructure as code.


• Monitoring and observability tools.


• Experience working in logistics, transportation, customs, or e-commerce platforms.
