Job summary

Job title: Senior ACE Developer

Area: Enterprise Integrations, Internal Integration Services, ESB Development

Purpose of the job/ Overall responsibility

The Senior ACE Developer designs, develops, tests, documents, and maintains integration solutions on the IBM App Connect Enterprise platform within the enterprise integration landscape. The role ensures internal application-to-application integrations are delivered in a stable, secure, scalable, and standards-compliant way, supporting business-critical processes and contributing to migration, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain ACE message flows and related integration components.
• Analyse integration requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions and mapping specifications.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including solution design, deployment information, and operational handover material.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, defect analysis, and regression testing for new, changed, and migrated flows.
• Support migration activities from legacy integration platforms to ACE and contribute to platform modernization initiatives.
• Assist with deployment preparation, release coordination, post-go-live hypercare, and third-level troubleshooting when required.
• Collaborate with business requestors, application teams, EI Intake, Release Management, ESB Support, and Tech & Platform teams.
• Contribute to code quality, reusable patterns, knowledge sharing, onboarding, and continuous improvement of development practices.

Authority & Staff responsibility

Authority level: Works within agreed development standards, architecture principles, security guardrails, and change management processes. Has authority to propose technical solutions, raise risks and quality concerns, and support technical decisions within assigned tasks. Final prioritisation, resource allocation, and production approval remain with the relevant Team Lead, Manager, Release Management, and governance functions.

Staff responsibility: No direct staff responsibility. The role may provide technical guidance, peer support, mentoring, onboarding assistance, and knowledge sharing to other developers or project resources when required.

Internal working relations

Works closely with ESB Development Team Leads, ACE developers, EI Intake Coordinators, Release Management, ESB Support, Internal Integration Tech & Platform Services, Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, DevOps, application teams, business requestors, project managers, and other Enterprise Integration stakeholders across divisions.

Qualifications & skills

• Strong experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise, IBM Integration Bus, or comparable enterprise integration platforms.
• Good understanding of integration patterns, message routing, transformation, canonical data models, APIs, files, databases, MQ, and event-based communication.
• Experience with technical design, mapping specifications, source control, deployment processes, and troubleshooting of production integrations.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices, quality gates, unit testing, regression testing, and secure software development principles.
• Experience in logistics, transport management, warehouse management, finance, customs, or other enterprise application integration domains is advantageous.
• Structured, quality-conscious, and able to deliver reliably within agreed timelines and priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incidents and identify sustainable solutions.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive ownership, early risk identification, and transparent collaboration with colleagues and management.
