Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery in Bengaluru (Bangalore) seeks a Senior Software Engineer - IOS for the Player Team. You will contribute to building high-performance Apple applications, mastering Swift, UIKit, and the Player SDK across devices to deliver seamless playback experiences.

You will own architecture decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with TPM/SDM to drive features from concept to production, with a focus on operational excellence and scalable design in the OTT domain.

Qualifications

• 5-9 years’ experience in Broadcasting Video / OTT domain and architecting native applications for Apple ecosystem.
• Strong knowledge of Swift and Apple ecosystem, including UIKit and SwiftUI.
• Experience in DevOps/CI/CD and performance profiling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build features for the Apple platform in close collaboration with TPM, SDM and product stakeholders.
• Advocate best practices for Player Architecture, Design & Development.
• Own all aspects of product development from concept through testing, adoption and iterative improvements.

Meet Our Team:

We are the Product Engineering group for Direct-2-Consumer business, and responsible for building OTT Player (HLS and DASH) for several Warner Bros Discovery products across 70+ different platforms. We build Player SDK for Android, Apple, Desktop, HWA and STB platforms to provide seamless integration experience to the WBD applications.

The ideal candidate has a track record of having built multiple high-performance, stable, scalable Apple applications, Swift tech stack, HLS / DASH Players and expertise in Software Architecture / Design principles. You choose the right architecture and design patterns for solving the business problems. You own the quality of the Software product. You are customer obsessed and always challenge yourself to provide the best quality playback experience to the WBD users. You are a team player and collaborate with peers and mentor SDEs. You are self-critical about your work and our product and have a continuous improvement mindset. You help your SDM in grooming the backlog and estimations. You are obsessed about Operational Excellence and always strive for engineering excellence. You show good judgment making trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Build product features in close collaboration with TPM, SDM and product stakeholders.
• Advocate best practices for Player Architecture, Design & Development.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders in architecting, designing and developing the Player SDK.
• Own all aspects of the product development from concept, and drive it through development, testing, acceptance, adoption and iterative changes Sheer focus on Operational excellence and metrics driven.
• Focus on Engineering excellence, keep tab on Architecture / Design trends, Always look out for improvement scopes, keep tab on Protocol spec & suggest new features.
• Be Self Critical about your work and obsessed about continuous improvement.
• Customer Obsession - Anyone who uses Player SDK is your customer, always respond positively to your internal customers (Testers, Client App Developers, Product Managers, etc) & be receptive to feedback, be obsessed to improve playback experience for end users.

What to Bring :

• 5-9 years’ experience in Broadcasting Video / OTT domain and architecting native applications for Apple ecosystem
• Sound understanding of Swift programing language (concurrency, combine framework etc) UIKit knowledge and Swift UI is good to have.
• Good at unit testing(XCTest), integration testing and strong Debugging skills using profiling tools like Instruments.
• Sound understanding of Apple/TV Architecture, Media Framework, Media Player APIs, AV Foundation API , Apple SDK Data driven technical decision-making skills for architecture and design of new product features.
• Eye to details and identify optimization scope for performance improvements.
• Experience in DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring & incident management is a plus.
• Mentoring, Coaching skills to build the succession for architecture and design.
• Familiar with Web Service Integration (REST, JSON) and REST concepts
• Strong computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Good verbal & written communication skills
