Job summary

AVIRATA DEFENCE SYSTEMS in Bengaluru is seeking a Electronics Hardware Design Engineer with 3-4 years of Analog and Digital design experience. You will design circuits, develop hardware blocks, and contribute to Preliminary/ Detailed design reviews, interfacing with firmware and mechanical teams.

You will capture schematics, propose BOM, and work with vendors to source components while following aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics or equivalent.
• 3–4 years in analog and digital electronics design.
• At least 1 year of microprocessor/microcontroller based design.
• Knowledge of RS-232, I2C, SPI, RS-485 and Ethernet.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Study and generate hardware requirements as part of the System Requirement Specifications.
• Provide inputs to estimate the Technical Feasibility of hardware implementation.
• Design hardware blocks and prototypes and conduct unit tests.
• Capture schematics and generate the BOM; coordinate with sourcing and procurement.
• Lead hardware test plans and participate in System Tests and field trials.

Job description

• Participate with the team in preliminary and detailed study phases of a project and generate Hardware requirements as part of the System Requirement Specifications.
• Provide inputs to the Design Manager to Estimate the Technical Feasibility of hardware implementation in an assigned project.
• Assist the team to derive the Preliminary Hardware blocks as inputs to the Preliminary Design Reviews for a project.
• Interact with the Firmware Design Engineer, to provide hardware interface details, to formulate firmware architecture.
• Provide inputs required for the GUI Design Engineer to formulate the GUI, Database and Interface requirements.
• Assist in the Compilation of the Preliminary Design Document.
• Assist in Hardware Task breakdown reports during detailed study phase of a project, along with cost and effort and time estimates.
• Design hardware using approved design concepts from the System Requirement Specification and Customer Requirements. Implement module level prototypes and conduct unit tests and demonstrate functionality as relevant.
• Capture the schematic of a design using standard tools and generate the Bill of Materials required by the Design. Work with the Design Manager in Component Identification and Sourcing in accordance with Design requirement. Interact with Purchase for component procurement and verify receipt of inward goods as per requirement. Assist Purchase and Quality in evaluation of vendors.
• Provide relevant inputs to the Design Manager for the Design Verification of the assigned modules/projects.
• Interact with the Quality and Design team members and derive unit test plans, Qualification Test Plan, Design Document, Design Drawings and Acceptance Test Plans for assigned modules/projects.
• Provide Inputs to Mechanical Design to derive the form factor, enclosure and other relevant mechanical elements in the design.
• Coordinate with the PCB Layout Designer to generate component placement, routing and pcb layout. Should verify such subcontracted outputs along with the Assembly/Test Engineer.
• Conduct and document testsdesigned modules along with the team, for proper functionality in accordance with approved requirements. Should participate in Integrated System Tests and assist the team in solving hardware integration problems that arise.
• Participate and conduct as relevant Qualification Testing, Field Trials and other relevant design validation activities, installation checks on the field, and generate the appropriate reports and articles.
• Build relevant design, unit test and other relevant documentation as per the approved standards in place.
• Build the relevant manufacturing documentation like Design documentation, Hardware drawings, Work instructions, troubleshooting manuals, etc as relevant.
• Provide requisite training to Production/Service Personnel and Customer in relevant project Hardware.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Proficiency in Designing Electronics Circuits involving Analog and Digital Design including Microprocessor / Microcontroller, FPGA, CPLD and other Programmable Logic devices and their development platforms.
• Proficiency in Schematic Capture, Board Design and Simulation tools related to Electronics Hardware Design. Knowledge of Board Fabrication processes and related vendor interaction.
• Thorough knowledge of handling test instruments like Multimeter, Oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generator etc.
• Familiarity with process driven development methodologies and complete product development life cycle.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum B.E ( Electronics)
• At least 3-4 years experience in Analog and Digital Electronics Design
• At least 1 year of Experience in Microprocessor/Microcontroller based design
• Thorough understanding of support peripherals, communication protocols like RS 232, I2C, SPI, RS485 ,Ethernet etc
• Familiarity with standard development methodologies, and aerospace standards in particular.
