Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced Senior GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and manage enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure with emphasis on security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

You will lead Terraform-based IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and governance across Persistent locations, collaborating with Data Engineering and AI teams to support Vertex AI workloads and cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of work experience in Cloud Engineering/DevOps.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Expert-level Terraform experience for IaC and module development.
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale GCP infrastructure using Terraform.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Senior GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, automating, and managing enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure while ensuring security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules for enterprise cloud environments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Provision and manage GCP infrastructure using Terraform and automation frameworks.
• Build complete cloud environments from scratch using GCP services and infrastructure automation.
• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-native solutions leveraging GCP services.
• Configure and maintain Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Firestore, IAM, Secret Manager, and Load Balancing services.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Implement infrastructure versioning, automated code reviews, governance controls, and deployment strategies.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Configure and manage networking components including VPCs, Subnets, Firewall Rules, Private Connectivity, DNS, and SSL Certificates.
• Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM), Service Accounts, and security controls.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability solutions using Cloud Monitoring and related tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues and execute root cause analysis for critical incidents.
• Develop operational runbooks, architecture documentation, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and AI/ML teams to build secure and scalable data and AI platforms.
• Support infrastructure required for Vertex AI Agent Engine, Vertex AI Search, Model Armor, and AI-driven workloads.
• Implement security, compliance, and governance standards across cloud environments.
• Participate in architecture discussions and recommend cloud optimization strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices across teams.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Automation, or Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Expert-level experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation and reusable module development.
• Strong experience managing GCP services including Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Storage (GCS), IAM, VPC Networking, Load Balancing, Firestore, Secret Manager, Cloud Monitoring, Artifact Registry, Cloud Scheduler, Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP).
• Extensive experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, and access management.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and automated deployment practices.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence frameworks.
• Knowledge of security best practices, compliance controls, and governance requirements.
• Experience troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure and application deployment issues.
• Strong scripting and automation skills.
• Experience supporting cloud-based AI, analytics, and modern data platforms.
• Ability to create technical documentation, infrastructure standards, and operational procedures.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering, architecture, and business teams.
