Job summary

V.Group in Mumbai seeks an experienced Vessel Accountant to manage ledgers for multiple vessels, validate payments, and ensure accurate coding across departments. You will support funding, payroll, and vendor payments while maintaining timetable fidelity and client reporting.

The role requires 5+ years in vessel accounting, strong Excel skills, and excellent English communication. Collaboration with Vessel FC and other teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Full-time graduation in Commerce, relevant degree.
• 5+ years of vessel accounting experience is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Review general ledger for 25-30 vessels managed by Fleet Accountants.
• Verify first level payment authorization for vessel accounts.
• Perform quality checks to ensure financial data is properly authorised and coded.
• Quality check on all funding requests; ensure vessel funding is available.
• Pay invoices, payroll and creditors within policy and terms.
• Prepare reports for clients within the prescribed timetable.
• Coordinate with Vessel FC and other depts to explain budget variances.
• Support Vessel FC with other duties as needed.
• Provide trainings to new hires.
• Assist TLs with admin tasks and review Financial Statements (OC, BS, cash flow).
• Share best practices with team and work on process improvements.

Job description

• Review general ledger for the set of Vessels (approx. 25-30) being managed by Fleet Accountants
• To verify first level payment authorization for vessel accounts
• Perform quality checks to ensure financial data is properly authorised and coded by the relevant departments
• Perform quality check on all funding requests.Ensure sufficient funding of the vessel at all times to enable all commitments are settled within timelines
• Payment of purchase invoices, payroll and other creditors within the agreed payment terms and in line with V.Group policy
• Ensure all reports and requests are prepared for the client within the prescribed timetable
• Liaising with Vessel Financial Controller and other departments in order to provide explanation for Budget variances
• Supporting the Vessel Financial Controller with any other duties that may arise
• Provide trainings to New Hires
• Support TL's in performing administrative tasks and reviewing the Financial Statements - Operating Cost, Balance Sheet, Funding requests, Cash Flow - Daily, weekly etc
• Share best practices with other team members
• Work on Process Improvement projects
