Qualifications

• Technical proficiency: CAD/CAM, ERP/MRP, reading blueprints, and fabrication industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct end-to-end fabrication, assembly, and shop-floor scheduling to meet timelines.
• Lead technical/process initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S to reduce waste.
• Coordinate QA/QC to analyze defects and ensure safety/environmental compliance.
• Manage front-line supervisors and production engineers; plan staffing and training.
• Communicate milestones and risks with management, design, and procurement teams.
• Monitor inventory of steel, consumables, and welding supplies; prevent shortages.
• Oversee maintenance schedules and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a zero-harm shop floor.

Job description

1. Operations & Production Management: Directs end-to-end fabrication, assembly, and shop-floor scheduling to meet delivery timelines and project budgets
2. Technical & Process Leadership: Provides guidance on complex metal fabrication processes (such as welding, powder coating/painting, laser cutting, CNC punching and sheet bending) and implements Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to minimize waste and rework.
3. Quality Control & Compliance: Coordinates with QA/QC teams to conduct root-cause analyses on defects, enforce design specifications, and comply with safety and environmental regulations (such as OSHA or local plant standards).Ensure compliance with welding procedures, inspection processes, and industry codes.
4. Team & Workforce Development: Manages front-line supervisors, production engineers, and skilled technicians, handling performance reviews, staffing plans, and cross-training to prevent production bottlenecks. Handle hiring, training, performance reviews, and skills development.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicates project milestones, technical evaluations, and risk assessments with upper management, clients, and design/procurement teams.
6. Inventory and Material Management: Monitor stock levels of steel, consumables, and welding supplies, coordinating with procurement to prevent shortages or overstocking.
7. Equipment and Maintenance: Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for machinery and troubleshoot equipment or operational breakdowns.
8. Safety and Compliance: Enforce workplace health and safety regulations (such as OSHA or EPA standards) to maintain a zero-harm shop floor culture.

Typical Qualifications

1. Education: Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, fabrication, production, Industrial, or Structural Engineering.
2. Experience: 8+ to 10+ years of progressive experience in a heavy manufacturing, aerospace, or structural steel fabrication environment, including several years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
3. Technical Proficiency: CAD/CAM software, ERP/MRP systems, blueprint/technical drawing interpretation, and industrial fabrication standards.
