Job summary

Mebumi Enterprises is seeking a Senior Estimator / Estimation Lead in Pune to own the estimation delivery function for complex projects. You will manage the team, review estimates, and ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery across international projects.

You will guide junior estimators, establish standardized practices, and coordinate capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards in all deliverables.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience in construction estimation or quantity surveying.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, quantities, and scopes of work.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates and takeoffs.
• Ability to review and guide the work of other estimators.
• Good written and spoken English and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed construction estimates, quantity takeoffs, and BOQs.
• Handle complex and high-value estimation projects independently.
• Review drawings, specifications, scope documents, and tender documentation.
• Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, exclusions, and potential estimating risks.
• Ensure estimates are commercially sensible, accurate, and well documented.
• Support, guide, and mentor junior and mid-level estimators.
• Review work and provide technical guidance when estimators encounter difficult scopes.
• Help allocate projects based on complexity, workload, and team capability.
• Train new estimators and help establish consistent estimating practices.
• Become the technical escalation point for the estimation team.
• Work with QC to identify recurring errors and improve estimation quality.
• Develop and improve checklists, templates, workflows, and estimating standards.
• Identify opportunities to speed up and standardize the estimation process.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Estimator / Estimation Lead to take ownership of our estimation delivery function.

This is more than an estimating role. You will be responsible for delivering complex estimates, supporting and developing junior estimators, maintaining quality standards, managing workload across the team, and helping us build a reliable and scalable estimation process.

You will work closely with the management team and play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered accurately, on time, and to a consistently high standard.

What You'll Do

Estimation & Technical Delivery

• Prepare and review detailed construction estimates, quantity takeoffs, and BOQs.
• Handle complex and high-value estimation projects independently.
• Review drawings, specifications, scope documents, and tender documentation.
• Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, exclusions, and potential estimating risks.
• Ensure estimates are commercially sensible, accurate, and well documented.

Team Leadership

• Support, guide, and mentor junior and mid-level estimators.

Quality & Process Improvement

Capacity & Delivery Management

• Monitor project workload and upcoming deadlines.
• Identify capacity constraints and potential delivery risks early.
• Help determine when additional internal or freelance estimating capacity is required.
• Coordinate with management to ensure projects are appropriately resourced.
• Take ownership of delivery issues and work toward practical solutions before they become client problems.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of relevant experience in construction estimation, quantity surveying, or a closely related role.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, quantities, and scopes of work.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates and takeoffs.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Ability to review and guide the work of other estimators.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for instructions.
• A problem-solving mindset and willingness to improve processes.

Software

Experience with relevant estimating and construction software is preferred, such as:

• CostX
• Excel / Google Sheets
• Other construction estimating, takeoff, or project management platforms

Experience with Australian, US, UK, or other international construction projects is an advantage.
