Job summary

Optimar Consulting is seeking an experienced Estimator – Bid Coordination to manage the estimating process for US-based commercial construction projects. This fully remote role requires self-motivation, strong English, and ability to work US shift hours, calling US subcontractors to solicit bids.

You will prepare RFQs/RFPs, perform quantity takeoffs with CostX/PlanSwift/Bluebeam, build cost estimates from conceptual to GMP, and coordinate with project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on estimating experience on US commercial construction projects.
• Excellent spoken English communication skills — outbound calls to US subcontractors.
• Working knowledge of CostX, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Experience with BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar bid management platforms.
• Strong Excel skills for cost modeling and bid comparison.
• Proven track record in remote/distributed team setups.
• Ability to work US shift hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain organized bid docs and vendor communication logs.
• Use BuildingConnected/Procore to manage bid invites and communications.
• Manage own schedule and deliverables in a remote setup with reporting.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Estimator – Bid Coordination who can independently manage the estimating process for US-based commercial construction projects — from quantity takeoff through subcontractor bid solicitation and final pricing. This is a fully remote role, so the candidate must be self-driven and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Strong verbal communication skills are essential, as the candidate will be directly calling and following up with US subcontractors and vendors to solicit quotes, clarify scope, and level bids. Prior experience working with US clients or on US project hours is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, and trade drawings using CostX/PlanSwift/On-Screen Takeoff/Bluebeam
• Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs to subcontractors and vendors for sub-bid pricing
• Proactively call subcontractors and suppliers in the US to solicit quotes, clarify scope gaps, and follow up on outstanding bids
• Perform bid leveling and comparison analysis across multiple subcontractor quotes
• Identify scope gaps and coverage issues between trade bids
• Build and maintain detailed cost estimates (conceptual through final GMP)
• Coordinate with project managers/preconstruction leads on pricing strategy
• Maintain organized bid documentation, vendor communication logs, and estimate backup
• Use BuildingConnected/Procore or similar platforms to manage bid invitations and vendor communication
• Manage own schedule and deliverables independently in a remote work setup, with regular check-ins with the reporting manager

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on estimating experience on US commercial construction projects
• Excellent spoken English communication skills — comfortable making outbound calls to US‑based subcontractors and vendors
• Working knowledge of CostX, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or On‑Screen Takeoff
• Experience with BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar bid management platforms
• Strong Excel skills for cost modeling and bid comparison
• Proven track record of working effectively in a remote/distributed team setup
• Reliable high‑speed internet and a distraction‑free home workspace
• Ability to work US shift hours

• Familiarity with CSI divisions and standard US bid documentation formats
