Job summary

Charles Schwab India is seeking a people-centric engineering leader to guide a growing team in Hyderabad. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and partner with business teams to deliver scalable fintech solutions. A strong background in distributed systems, Java/C#, and AI-enabled SDLC is required.

You will drive agile practices, champion telemetry, and steer cloud initiatives on GCP/PCF, while growing a high-performing group in this early growth phase.

Qualifications

• Curious people leader with strong leadership, technical, and communication skills.
• 4+ years in software development management, with at least 1 year in workflow technologies.
• 10+ years of development in distributed platforms; Java and/or C# in Linux/Windows environments.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of mission-critical services.
• Experience using AI across AI-assisted SDLC, Copilot adoption, agentic workflows and AI testing.
• Proficient in Agile development and Test-Driven Development.
• Telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence.
• Broad knowledge of software engineering trends and cloud tech (GCP, PCF preferred).

What you have

Required Skills :-

• We are looking for a curious people leader with excellent leadership, technical, program management, and communication skills to guide the team through technology challenges while driving towards target architecture.


• BS Computer Science or related field.


• People Leader experience: 4+ years of software development management experience with at least 1 year focused on workflow technologies. This includes coaching and mentoring, working through complex problems, and working with our business partners to deliver an amazing experience for our clients.


• Strong developer background is a must. 10+ years of solid development experience in distributed platform Experience with Java and/or C# Java in a Linux/Windows data center environment. The ability to step in to drive a solution that your engineers can build upon. Experience building complex, highly scalable and low latency application. Ability to understand complex problems easily.


• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a mission critical service.


• Experience using AI and driving AI across AI-assisted SDLC, Copilot adoption, Agentic workflows, Prompt engineering, AI testing automation, AI code review automation.


• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test-Driven Development.


• Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence Experience growing high performing engineering teams Good judgment and the ability to handle stressful situations.


• Broad knowledge of software engineering: languages, frameworks, techniques, industry trends, etc.


• Experience with Cloud Technologies - Pivotal Cloud Foundry and GCP, a plus

Preferred Skills :-

• Leading technical teams in delivering highly scalable and reliable applications that meet business budgets/timelines while ensuring alignment to strategic technology vision.


• Drive AI adoption maturity across all aspects including AI-assisted Software Development Life Cycle using copilots, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, Spec Driven Development and AI Testing automation.


• Managing day-to-day activities and influence team members to leverage, follow and support agile software development practices; includes the following: Develop and document resourcing roadmaps, budgets and schedules Ensure team is properly engaged, aware of career milestones/path, aware of their role on the team and how it relates to others, lastly aware of their contributions to our overall goals Lead all recruiting activities across the team (create different avenues when necessary)


• Identify gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans (both technically & with regards to resources) Increase the overall visibility of this team; celebrate/track accomplishments and build relationships with key leaders in other groups


• Continually strive for improvements in process, talent acquisition/retention, application time-to-market, and quality.


• Provide hands-on technical coding and mentoring when necessary (plus)


• Financial services industry experience is preferred.
