Job summary

River, a Bengaluru-based design company, is seeking an experienced embedded controls engineer to join its automotive team. You will work on vehicle control algorithms, model-based control, and ECU integration across architecture, firmware, and sensors.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in automotive embedded development, strong C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink skills, and experience with NXP or ST controllers. You will contribute to safety standards and end-to-end deployment of control software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Control systems, Automotive Eng, or related field.
• 3–5 years embedded and controls development in automotive.
• Strong math background in control theory and applications.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded microcontrollers.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python scripting.
• Experience building state machines.
• Experience with NXP, ST and other automotive controllers.
• Experience bringing control algorithms to mass-market products.
• Strong verbal communication for collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, tune and update control system frameworks with the vehicle architecture controls team.
• Develop model-based control algorithms for vehicle features and functions.
• Bridge firmware, electrical and mechanical architectures to ECUs within design tolerances.
• Develop MBD software for upcoming ECUs including bootloader, protocols, timers and IMU.
• Produce production-ready MBD software using code generation meeting MISRA standards.
• Lead FMEAs and DV P reviews for new and existing software stacks.
• Introduce ISO26262 safety standards to software stacks.
• Review algorithm releases to align with product gate checks.
• Develop new avenues for algorithm development leading to patents.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with vehicle architecture - controls team to develop, tuning and update the control system frameworks for future algorithms.
• Developing model based control algorithms for vehicle features and functions
• Understanding firmware, electrical and mechanical architecture of the vehicle and then bridge the gap between these architectures and make sure the control models are being implemented into the respective ECUs, within the design tolerances.
• Development of the MBD software for upcoming ECUs which include working on the subcomponents like bootloader, embedded communication protocols, Timers, control models, IMU sensors and vehicle level features.
• Developing MBD software for upcoming ECUs to production level, using code generation which should meet industry standards of MISRA compliance.
• Leading development of FMEAs and DVPs for new and existing software stack.
• Working on introducing ISO26262 standards of safety to the new and existing software stacks.
• Participating in review of algorithm releases to adhere with product development process and gate checks.
• Developing new avenues for algorithm development leading to patent applications and new features in the market.

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Control systems, Automotive Engineering or related engineering field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in embedded and controls development for an automotive company.
• Should possess a strong mathematical understanding in classical and modern control theory and its applications in system controls.
• Demonstrated proficiency in writing C/C++ for embedded microcontrollers required.
• Demonstrated experience in building models in MATLAB/Simulink and proficiency in scripting languages on MATLAB/python.
• Demonstrated experience in developing state-machines.
• Experience with developing code for NXP, ST, and other automotive controllers.
• Experience in implementing machine learning algorithms is an advantage.
• Should have experience handling end to end development of vehicle control algorithms into mass market applications.
• Proficient in verbal communications skills required to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
