Job summary

River is a design company building multi-utility products, based in Bengaluru, with a 1000+ team and international investors.

We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to design chassis and sub-systems for two-wheelers, ensure DFMEA, DFMA, and drive cost reductions; strong GD&T and SolidWorks skills required.

Ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of experience in chassis development, PLM exposure, and a solid grasp of DFM, DFA, DFS.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural design for two-wheeler chassis or major structural parts.
• Experience with PLM platforms; Dassault 3DExperience a plus.
• Understanding of DFM, DFA and DFS principles.

Responsibilities

• Design the chassis and sub-systems for two-wheelers.
• Analyze packaging, serviceability, assembly processes and cost implications.
• Define system-level targets to meet function, quality and attributes.
• Conduct DFMEA and related documentation.
• Lead cross-functional meetings to resolve design/integration issues.
• Generate VA/VE ideas to reduce material costs.
• Drive CAPA actions using 8D, 5-Why, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing the chassis and sub systems.
• Understand vehicle/sub system functional objectives, inter dependencies and study the packaging, serviceability, plant assembly process/ decking and cost implications.
• Define appropriate system-level engineering targets to meet function, quality and attribute requirements.
• Prepare Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA ensuring all relevant documentation
• Conduct the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibilities through the appropriate cross-functional meetings.
• Generate and implement VA/VE ideas to reduce the product material cost.
• Drive root cause investigations for structural, packaging, and manufacturing defects and derive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using 8D, 5-Why, etc.

Ideal Candidate

• Overall 3 to 5 years of experience in structural design and has been a part of the development of the chassis or other structural parts for a two wheeler.
• Relevant knowledge of PLM platforms. Experience with Dassault 3DExperience a plus.
• Good understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Serviceability(DFS).
• Well versed with the manufacturing aspects of the sheet metal fabrication, forming and welding.
• Basic understanding of TQM principles, Quality in Design Philosophy.
• Basic understanding of FEA analysis.
• Good knowledge on GD&T and well versed with modelling and drafting of drawings on solid works . This is a must.
• Understanding of vehicle systems and its dependency on vehicle parts and assembly parameters is a plus.
• College Design Competition Experience a plus (FSAE, BAJA, AERO SAE, SHELL ECO MARATHON, etc.)
