Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Hyderabad is seeking a validation engineer to design and validate FPGA features, perform root-cause analysis, and bring up silicon using Microchip’s design flow. You will document results and coordinate sign-off with stakeholders.

The role requires hands-on FPGA validation, lab debugging with oscilloscopes and analyzers, and familiarity with embedded C/C++. Travel is possible and strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on FPGA silicon validation experience.
• Experience with synthesis and placement constraints, STA and timing closure.
• Strong background in silicon/functional validation and debug.
• Excellent board-level debugging in lab with oscilloscopes and analyzers.
• Experience with embedded software C/C++ is a plus.
• Familiarity with AMBA protocols and peripherals such as SPI, I3C, UART.
• Familiarity with PCIe Gen4/5 and high-speed serial protocols.
• English communication skills in both verbal and written form.
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics with 4–9 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Validation design creation using Microchip’s FPGA design flow RTL and Embedded C based test design development.
• Validation of all features of FPGA; debug and root cause analysis, validating workaround and fixes.
• Study of specification and validation plans; create and maintain hardware setup, bring up the silicon and validate use cases.
• Documentation of test results, reviewing with stakeholders and getting sign-off.
• Develop automation and regression design and flow; file Bugzilla/Jira tickets during design creation and validation phase.

Job Description:

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on FPGA Silicon validation experience
• Experience in using Synthesis, Placement constraints. STA constraint definition and Timing closure for high-speed designs
• Strong technical background in silicon validation, functional validation, failure analysis and debug
• Excellent Board level debug capabilities in lab environment: hands-on troubleshooting skills for digital logic and analog circuit on PCB’s using oscilloscopes, digital analyzers, protocol exercisers and analyzers, integrated logic analyzers (e.g. Identify, Chipscope, SignalTap, Reveal)
• Working knowledge on embedded software C/C++ is also a plus
• Basic knowledge of embedded processors such as and familiarity with AMBA protocols APB, AHB, AXI and peripherals such as SPI, I3C and UART
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: PMA features , Eye capture, equalization and debug
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: DDR 4/5
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: 100G/50G/40G/25G/10G Ethernet
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: USB3.2, DisplayPort, HDMI
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: JESD204B, JESD204C
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: Working knowledge of SERDES architecture, Equalization settings and debug
• Hands-on systems level design and debug experience with any few of the following high-speed serial communications protocols: PCIe Gen4/5
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics with 4 -9 yrs of industry experience
