Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in India seeks a validation engineer to develop comprehensive test plans and execute end-to-end validation of electronic products.

You will design test environments, support board bring-up, perform post-silicon validation, and collaborate with design, firmware, and applications teams to ensure product quality.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in validation, testing and hardware development.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform post-silicon validation activities, including test development, data collection, analysis, and documentation of results.
• Debug issues observed during validation and replicate customer-reported problems in the lab.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, applications) to ensure product quality and timely issue resolution.

Job Description

Develop comprehensive test plans and execute end to end Validation according to product datasheets and specifications. Design and establish test environments by defining hardware and software requirements, selecting appropriate lab equipment, and supporting test board bring-up and validation activities. Perform post-silicon validation activities, including test development and execution, data collection, analysis, and comprehensive documentation of results. Debug issues observed during validation and assist in replicating customer-reported problems in the lab. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, applications) to ensure product quality and timely issue resolution.

Desired Skills & Knowledge

• Familiarity with one or more of the following protocols: USB (USB 2.0/3.0), USB Power Delivery, Ethernet (10/100/1G/10G/25G), and basic TSN concepts.
• Strong knowledge in pre-silicon validation using FPGA emulation platforms.
• Hands-on experience in hardware development, including schematic Design, PCB layout understanding and PCB bring-up.
• Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or TCL/TK for automation.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages (C/C++)
• Strong knowledge of microcontrollers and microprocessor architectures.
• Knowledge of interface protocols such as SPI/SQI, I2C, UART, and JTAG.
• Hands-on debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Additional Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, Signal generators and traffic generators.
• Practical knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI).
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
