Job summary

Eaton in Pune, India seeks a Senior Test Lab Engineer to oversee hydraulic test activities and collaborate with engineering to ensure on-time, compliant product validation. You will direct lab operations, develop LabVIEW-based test solutions, and drive improvements in testing and data analysis.

The role requires 8–10 years in mechanical/aerospace hydraulics, experience with pumps and fatigue testing, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive engineering with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in hydraulic systems and test stand development.
• Experience in pump testing, assembly and disassembly.
• Strong data analysis and LabVIEW/Diadem proficiency.
• Ability to lead test lab activities and provide technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and assist engineering to setup, install and complete product tests per defined procedures.
• Install mechanical setups and knowledge of hydraulics.
• Test hydraulic products (pumps, valves, hose assemblies, fittings) per AS/DO-160 standards.
• Develop customized LabVIEW/Diadem solutions for fatigue testing and data acquisition.
• Suggest design improvements based on test results.
• Troubleshoot and update test stands for new tests or standards.
• Design test circuits and build testing setups.
• Ensure ISO17025 and AS9100 compliance in test procedures.
• Drive Lean/ DMAIC improvements and digitalization in the lab.
• Create SOPs for test stands and lab processes.
• Provide technical leadership to lab technicians and ensure quality checks.

Job description

What you’ll do:

Requirement of this position is to perform testing and provide assistance to engineering personnel to setup, install and on-time completion of accurate product and /or system testing in accordance with specific test procedures as defined by the Aerospace product engineering functions team. The position requires to :

a) Perform installation of mechanical setups: sound knowledge of hydraulics

b) Perform test setups in completion of specific and standard test processes for Hydraulic test stand and complete test requests within acceptable time.

c) Perform the test of hydraulic products such as Pump, Valves, Hose Assy , Couplings, Environmental chambers and fitting as per the mentioned process (Aerospace AS , DO-160 or customer specified standard)

d) Well-versed in LabVIEW, DIAdem, selection of components for fatigue testing (Impulse, burst etc.) with practical experience in developing customized solutions and implementing applications.

e) Provide the recommendations to product team on design improvement based on the test results.

f) Should able to trouble shoot and update the test stand for any new test requirement or standard

g) Should design the test circuit and build the same for testing.

h) Standardization of test procedures in test lab and adhere to ISO17025 and AS9100 standards

i) Implement EBE processes (DMAIC / Lean) successfully in Lab. Improve productivity by standardization and continuous improvement, Participate & implement continuous improvement/ best practices, implement digitalization tools in lab

j) Create SOP’s and processes / procedures for Individual test stands and implements in Lab

k) Provide technical leadership to the test lab technician team and perform quality checks to ensure testing meets Eaton / Customer / International standards, Review and Approve the test request and provide feedback to test personnel

l) The essential function of this position will be to understand customer requirements and help set up flow for technicians on test engineering activities for product validation

m) Maintain effective communications both verbal & written with customer, team members and cross functional departments.

n) Maintain close liaison with other technicians to standardize lab practices within group and with other groups in facility to ensure a safe working environment

o) Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the test lab that is a showpiece for customer visits. Continually work to improve the presentation of the lab for this purpose

Qualifications:

Graduate in Mechanical, Aerospace , Automotive engineering with 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience

Skills:

As a responsible critical position to ensure equipment uptime this position requires to have knowledge of following:

• 1. Good technical Depth in Hydraulic Systems and Equipment Development Lifecycle Expertise and demonstrated during equipment build
• 2. Expertise in Pump testing and its Pump Assembly and Disassembly
• 3. Analyzing mechanical assembly issues related to hydraulics components is most preferred.
• 4. Sound knowledge of Vibration Testing : Providing technical leadership to test engineer, fixture design, test procedure development, and overall technical governance.
• 5. Troubleshooting elementary product and test rig issues, and performing data analysis required by the product group
• 6. Understanding of data acquisition systems, hardware and software that are being used for testing
• 7. Ability to fix any minor issues with test rigs and lab and work with his peer engineer to improve or develop any new methods solving the issues
• 8. Preferred reading fixture drawings
• 9. Articulating and generating good technical reports based on test observations
• 10. Train and monitor fellow technicians and drive completion of tests in prescribed time frame
• 11. Work with engineers within group to define and perform custom testing as requested by customer

• Good working knowledge of Hydraulic pumps, durability and performance test stands and its component selection.
• Product knowledge of aerospace hydraulic pumps, sensors, Hose assy. QD’s etc.
• Sound experience to Lead design and development of new Hydraulics /Electromechanical equipment’s
• Experience in assembly and tear down of hydraulic systems
• Experience in trouble shooting and problem solving for test stand
• Experience in test circuit design as per the requirement.
