Job summary

The Eaton India Innovation Center is seeking an experienced Engineer for the Aerospace Test Lab. The role focuses on performing hydraulic and aerospace-related testing, setting up test rigs and ensuring on-time completion of accurate tests per established procedures.

Candidate should have a mechanical/aerospace/automotive background with 5–7 years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems, LabVIEW and data acquisition, and track record of improving test methods

Qualifications

• Graduation in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive engineering.
• Experience in aerospace hydraulics test environments and lab procedures.
• Knowledge of ISO/AS9100 quality standards and test lab practices.

Responsibilities

• Setup, install and complete product/system testing per defined procedures.
• Lead test lab activities and ensure on-time completion of tests.
• Troubleshoot test rigs and update test stands for new requirements.
• Design test circuits with minimal support for testing.
• Standardize lab procedures and ensure ISO compliance.
• Provide technical leadership to lab technicians and review test requests.
• Generate technical reports from test observations.
• Work with engineers to define/customize tests per customer needs.
• Strive to meet lab performance targets in scorecard metrics.
• Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives in the lab.
• Create SOPs for test stands and lab processes.

Job description

What you’ll do:

Eaton India Innovation Center has an opening for a Engineer- Aerospace test Lab. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the requirement of this position is to perform testing and provide assistance to engineering personnel to setup, install and on-time completion of accurate product and /or system testing in accordance with specific test procedures as defined by the Aerospace product engineering functions team.

Requirement of this position is to perform testing and provide assistance to engineering personnel to setup, install and on-time completion of accurate product and /or system testing in accordance with specific test procedures as defined by the Aerospace product engineering functions team. The position requires to :

• a) Perform installation of mechanical setups: sound knowledge of hydraulics
• b) Perform test setups in completion of specific and standard test processes for Hydraulic test stand and complete test requests within acceptable time.
• c) Perform the test of hydraulic products such as Pump, Valves, Hose Assy , Couplings, Environmental chambers and fitting as per the mentioned process (Aerospace AS , DO-160 or customer specified standard)
• d) Knowledge in LabVIEW, selection of components for fatigue testing (Impulse, burst etc.), Selection of appropriate sensors, valves with practical experience in developing customized solutions and implementing applications.
• e) Provide the recommendations to product team on design improvement based on the test results.
• f) Should able to trouble shoot and update the test stand for any new test requirement or standard
• g) Should design the test circuit with minimal support and build the same for testing.
• h) Standardization of test procedures in test lab and adhere to ISO17025 and AS9100 standards
• i) Implement (DMAIC / Lean) successfully in Laboratory . Improve productivity by standardization and continuous improvement, Participate & implement continuous improvement/ best practices, implement digitalization tools in lab
• j) Create SOP’s and processes / procedures for Individual test stands and implements in Lab
• k) Provide technical leadership to the test lab technician team and perform quality checks to ensure testing meets Eaton / Customer / International standards, Review and Approve the test request and provide feedback to test personnel

Qualifications:

• Graduate in Mechanical, Aerospace , Automotive engineering
• 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience

Skills:

'-Essential Functions

• 1.Good knowledge in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems and Equipment Development Lifecycle Expertise and demonstrated during equipment build
• 2.Good knowledge in Pump selection, testing and its Assembly/Disassembly
• 3.Analyzing mechanical assembly issues related to hydraulics components is most preferred.
• 4.Troubleshooting elementary product and test rig issues, and performing data analysis required by the product group
• 5.Understanding of data acquisition systems, hardware and software that are being used for testing
• 6.Ability to fix issues with test rigs and lab and work with his peer engineer to improve or develop any new methods solving the issues
• 7.Preferred reading fixture drawings
• 8.Articulating and generating good technical reports based on test observations
• 9.Train and monitor fellow technicians and drive completion of tests in prescribed time frame
• 10.Work with engineers within group to define and perform custom testing as requested by customer
• 11.Strive to meet test lab performance targets established in Balanced Score Card and ensure ISO compliance

-Required:

• Product knowledge of aerospace hydraulic pumps, sensors, Hose assy. QD’s etc.
• Sound experience to Lead design and development of new Hydraulics /Electromechanical equipment’s
• Experience in assembly and tear down of hydraulic systems
• Excellent problem solving and tests stand troubleshooting skill & well conversant with relevant tools like 8D (FRACAS) for the test lab Experience in test circuit design as per the requirement.
• Awareness and experience in following Safety & Quality Management Practice
• Experience on fault identification and able to propose corrective actions
• Clear understanding about sensors, Diadem, electronic components of DAQ & control software i.e. LabVIEW etc.
• Experience in problem solving & continuous improvement through LEAN tool deployment for test equipment utilization and cost savings
