WSP is seeking a highly skilled individual to join the Structures team on major multi‑disciplinary project delivery, from concept stage through to detailed design. The role focuses on design production and integration with architects, engineers and specialist consultants. Accountabilities include production of high‑quality coordinated designs and project deliverables, technical and people leadership, and project delivery leadership. The holder must take a proactive, hands‑on approach to all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of coordinated designs through all design stages
- Present design outputs in a clear and precise manner
- Take a strategic lead role on large multi‑disciplinary projects and provide bespoke design solutions to niche and architectural‑led concept designs
- Manage the interfaces of the Structures design with the wider multidisciplinary project teams
- Engage with the Complimentary Resource Centres (CRCs) to continuously improve communication and design processes
- Communicate progress and issues early with the wider project team (e.g., EWN)
- Familiarize with project‑relevant standards, ideally including metro design standards for sub‑surface stations
- Own and effectively manage scope delivery to budget and programme
- Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients
- Provide leadership and guidance for successful project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction
- Manage project risk
Key Competencies / Skills
- Strong experience working on metro schemes and station design, ideally including sub‑surface metros
- Proven track record of successful design delivery, taking designs from concept/preliminary stage to tender/reference design, supporting client procurement of contractors
- Ability to proactively manage requirements and risks and influence others to deliver successfully
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good leadership capable of effective communication with project team, stakeholders and clients
- Preferred Chartered status with a relevant globally recognised professional institution
- Experience operating as a lead client contact for consultancy services and fostering excellent relationships with clients and co‑professionals
Technical Experience (e.g., Areas, Software)
- Extensive international experience in leading, producing, checking and coordinating Structures designs through the entire design and construction cycle
- Ability to lead teams to produce high‑quality coordinated design solutions
- Technical focus on delivering technical design reports, drawings and specifications to required regulations and quality standards
- Provide technical solutions on projects
- Good knowledge of H&S legislation, Safe by Design principles and Railway safety
- Initiate and participate in design peer reviews in alignment with the QMS system
- Provide support and guidance to the Technical Working Group (TWG)
- Keep up‑to‑date with industry developments regarding own discipline and appreciate basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines
- Strong fundamental understanding of all aspects of Metro Structures (sub‑surface and above‑ground concrete analysis and design, reinforcement design, material specification, etc.)

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology
- Chartered status with a relevant globally recognised professional institution preferred
