Job summary

Eaton is hiring a MV switchgear product design engineer in Puducherry. You will drive the design and development of critical MV components and ensure compliance with IEC standards throughout the product lifecycle while focusing on reliability and cost targets.

Lead design activities for VCB, RMU, AIS and GIS, coordinate type testing with labs, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain and QA to industrialize components and improve lead times.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is required.
• 4–6 years of MV product design experience.
• Experience with VCB, RMU, AIS and GIS MV switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of MV switchgear components (VCB, RMU, AIS, GIS).
• Define and approve type and prototype test plans for MV components.
• Coordinate type testing with labs (KEMA, CESI, GCC Lab) and oversee validation.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 100/102/103/200 and customer/utility requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, electrical and quality teams.

What You'll Do

Manage the product design, and development of critical components for Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear. Drive innovation, compliance, and industrialization to strengthen the competitiveness of MV Switchgear portfolio.

• Active partcipation for product design and development of VCB, RMU, AIS and GIS design activities for MV Switchgear ranage . Drive innovation, compliance, and industrialization to strengthen the competitiveness of MV Switchgear portfolio.
• Product verifications of VCB, RMU, AIS and GIS design activities for MV Switchgear
• Define and approve type and prototype test plans covering MV Switchgear components
• Coordinate type testing with accredited labs (KEMA, CESI, GCC Lab) and oversee in-house prototype validation.
• Lead root cause analysis of failures and ensure effective corrective measures across both product families.
• Guarantee compliance with IEC / 100 / 102 / 103 / 200 standards as well as customer-specific and utility requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation supporting certifications, approvals, and type testing for both MV Switchgear projects.
• Utilize DFMEA and reliability engineering methods to strengthen robustness and long-term quality of Switchgear components.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, electrical, and quality teams to ensure industrialization of components for both MV Switchgear.
• Collaborate with suppliers and R&D institutions to localize and qualify components, reducing costs and lead times across both product lines.
• Able to anticipate problems and make the necessary proactive steps to prevent them
• Ability to take necessary and proper timely decisions.
• Deliver the required results in timely manner with required quality and cost.
• Must make a tangible difference to his area of operation. and exceed business expectations.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical/ Electronics Engg
• 4 to 6 years of experience in Medium Voltage Product design

Skills

• MV Product design experinece-RVAC 11kV/33kV, VCB, AIS switchgear.
• Maintain technical documentation, project coordination, product certifications, and type testing for MV Switchgear products.
• Experience in Soildworks creo and autocad
• Coordinate type testing with accredited labs (KEMA, CESI, GCC Lab) and oversee in-house prototype validation.
• Lead root cause analysis of failures and ensure effective corrective measures across both product families.
