Job Summary
The Sr Engineer Production - Responsible for managing all printing operations during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth execution of jobs as per schedule, maintaining print quality, minimizing wastage, and achieving production targets. The role involves supervising printing machines (Screen, offset, Flexo, etc.) manpower, and process control in a fast-paced printing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Plan and execute shift-wise printing schedules based on job orders.
- Ensure timely completion of print jobs – Automobile Decals, doming Labels
- Monitor machine performance (Screen) to ensure optimal output.
- Reduce job changeover time and improve overall productivity.
Machine Handling & Process Control
- Ensure proper machine setup (registration, color matching, Screen mounting, ink mixing).
- Monitor print parameters like ink density, color consistency, and alignment.
- Troubleshoot printing issues such as ghosting, misregistration, and ink spreading
- Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
Manpower Management
- Supervise machine operators, helpers, and finishing staff.
- Allocate work based on skill level and job requirements.
- Train operators on machine handling and best printing practices.
- Maintain discipline and ensure team coordination.
Quality Control
- Ensure adherence to print quality standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with QC team for approvals (shade cards, samples).
- Monitor rejection rates and take corrective actions to reduce defects.
- Ensure proper handling of raw materials like Stock, ink, Stencil, and chemicals.
Material & Wastage Control
- Monitor consumption of paper, ink, plates, and solvents.
- Minimize printing wastage during setup and production.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe machine operation and use of PPE.
- Follow safety practices related to inks, solvents, and chemicals.
- Maintain clean and organized shop floor (5S implementation).
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain shift production reports (job status, output, wastage, downtime).
- Record machine performance and breakdown details.
- Communicate shift handover details clearly to the next shift.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement Kaizen and process improvements.
- Work on reducing setup time and improving machine efficiency.
- Suggest new techniques to improve print quality and productivity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Diploma / BE in Printing Technology / Mechanical / Production Engineering
- Knowledge about MS excel ERP( SAP will have added Advatages)
Experience
- 7-8 years of experience in printing industry (offset, flexo, packaging, printing)
- Experience in handling shift operations preferred
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of printing processes (Screen, Offset, Flexo)
- Understanding color management and print quality standards
- Familiarity with inks, substrates, Screen Printing offset Printing and finishing processes
