To provide technical support to the Middle East Power & Water business in the field of Power Generation; mainly, CCGT and OCGT technologies (mandatory) and Desalination (preferred); SWRO, MSF and MED Technologies.
The range of activities includes:
- Feasibility / FEED Studies for new Power and Desalination / water treatment projects
- Benchmarking, cost analysis, contracts review
- Engineering disciplines coordination during the project execution
- Preparation of functional specifications, datasheets, Formsheet preparations and basic concept drawings for Power and Desalination projects.
- Technical evaluation of tenders, vendor offers, bids. Preparation and closure of clarifications and report preparation.
- Engineering development and review of major power plant systems, including:
- Fuel gas and liquid fuel systems
- Steam generation and steam distribution systems
- Condensate and feedwater systems
- Boiler/HRSG auxiliary systems
- Cooling water systems (open and closed loop)
- Demineralized water and chemical dosing systems
- Compressed air systems
- Drain, blowdown, and wastewater systems
- Familiarity with Gas Turbine Models, specifications, GT selection
- General technical support to Utility Companies, Plant Owners, Project Developer Companies, Banks & Governments pre/post financial close for new build plants as well as existing operational plant.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the GCC group team leader to plan and allocate team resources and tasks.
- Technical support to the Pre-Contract and Project Delivery teams on matters concerning the design, construction and operation of power and desalination plants and associated equipment.
- Detail design of power and water projects and use of the associated performance modelling software packages.
- Technical evaluation of tender submissions and report preparation.
- Preparation of basic and detail technical specifications and design drawings.
- Preparation of layout drawings; plan and cross-sectional views.
- Review of design and performance calculations and drawings of Contractors/subcontractors/ vendors.
- Attend and contribute in team and project meetings.
- Reporting and monitoring of site progress to Project manager / client.
- Attend factory acceptance tests for any equipment manufactured in India and Abroad.
- Review of method statement/ test procedures submitted by contractors for power and desalination plants site activities.
- Review and preparation of monthly and quarterly construction progress reports.
- Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice.
Key Competencies / Skills
- Mandatory Skills:
- Design office experience working on power and water projects.
- Experience of Thermodynamic Power Plant Cycle Analysis. Experience of power plant systems and equipment.
- Must have worked on large power plants projects preferable across Middle East.
- Experience in selection of mechanical / BOP equipment.
- Preparation of technical specifications for power and desalination plants.
- Design review of power and desalination plants (process, mechanical and BOP).
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to achieve tight deadlines.
- Validation of specific calculation procedures.
- Willing to travel overseas for project meetings.
- Familiarity with relevant international standards.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of GT PRO, Thermodynamic Modelling is an advantage.
- Knowledge of IWP/IWPP contracts is an advantage.
- Knowledge of cost of power and desalination plants/equipment is an advantage.
Qualifications
The candidate should be a graduate mechanical engineer with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office.
