Job summary

Eaton in Maharashtra seeks an experienced Mechanical Design engineer to own subsystem design for LV circuit breakers (ACB/MCCB). You will contribute to mechanism, arc chute, and housing design, plus sensor integration and DFSS-driven development.

Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle, validating designs with testing, and ensuring reliability and on-time launches of key subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical with relevant experience in LV circuit breakers sub-systems such as Mechanism, Arc chute, and housing.
• Experience designing mechanisms, arc chutes, and housings for LV circuit breakers (ACB/MCCB).
• Knowledge of sheet metal and plastic parts design, with DFSS mindset and Six Sigma certification.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of product development lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Testing, Release).
• Support design of Mechanism, Arc chute, housing for LV circuit breakers (ACB/MCCB).
• Design sheet metal and plastic parts and ensure integration with sensors and mechanisms.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Field Service, Operations, and other Engineering teams during development.
• Drive subsystem design and testing for LV circuit breakers Mechanism, Arc chute, housing.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for motivated professionals with design knowledge and experience in design of Air Circuit Breaker mechanism, casette, accessoires and integration, control mechanical devices and analyzing data.

• Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Testing, and Release) following a structured engineering process to ensure quality and reliability.
• Responsible for supporting the deisgn of Mechanism, Arc chute, housing for products like LV circuit breaker (ACB and MCCB).
• In depth understanding design of sheet metal, plastic part design.
• Collaborate with external and internal customers, such as Product Management, Field Service, Operations and other Engineering teams during the product development life cycle
• Responsible for Design, developemnt and testing of sub system of LV circuit breaker like Mechanism, Arc chute, housing products like LV circuit breaker (ACB and MCCB).
• Expertise in design of sheet metal, plastic part design,different sensor selection and its integration.
• Ability to drive a technology design with a team of engineers both locally and remote
• Leverage Design for Six Sigma for reliable and on time launch of the projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical with 5- 10 relevant experience OR
• Master's Degree in Mechanical with 4-7 years of relevant experience
• Experience in design and development experience related to sub system like Mechanism, Arc chute, trip unit, housing used in products like LV circuit breaker (ACB and MCCB).

• Candidate should have hands on experiences of Configuration Engg and BID Manager. Handleing Label system for global plant.
• Understanding UL 489, UL 1066 standards and IEC 60947-1,2
• Experiences of ACB testing at External Certification Lab
• Candidate should have experience in plastic and sheet metal parts.
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology with examples of practical application.
• Understanding of stored energy mechanism and low voltage circuit breakers functioning.
• Hands on experience in Mechanism design .
• Knowledge in Manufacturing of sheet metal plastic parts.
• Good knowledge on modeling software Creo 7.0 and Enovia
• Good communication skills in English (verbal and written) to communicate information effectively to customers, and technical staff.
