Job summary

Copeland India in Pune is seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to develop complex layouts for variable speed drives. You will translate schematics and requirements into optimized boards while applying high-speed, power electronics, and EMC principles.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure manufacturability and quality. The ideal candidate has a 5–7 year track record in PCB layout, with expertise in Altium Designer and Cadence Allegro, and a strong understanding

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechatronics.
• 5–7 years of hands-on PCB layout experience in power electronics or motor drives.
• Strong knowledge of PCB technologies, layer stack-ups, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with IPC standards and DFM/DFT/DFA concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex PCB layouts for variable speed drives from concept through release to manufacturing.
• Translate schematics and constraints into optimized board designs.
• Define layout rules, impedance control, and routing strategies for high-speed power electronics.
• Design layouts with strong signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management considerations.
• Perform design checks and layout reviews per guidelines and standards.
• Prepare complete manufacturing data packages and supplier documentation.
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, EMC, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and quality.

If you are a PCB design professional with strong experience in PCB design of power electronics and Motor Drives, you have exciting opportunity in Power Electronics team of Copeland India, Pune location.

Your Tasks Will Include

• Developing complex PCB layouts for variable speed drives from early concept through release to manufacturing.
• Translating schematics, technical requirements, and mechanical constraints into optimized board designs.
• Defining and applying layout rules, layer stack-ups, controlled impedance requirements, and routing strategies.
• Designing PCB layouts for high-speed, mixed-signal power electronics.
• Applying best practices for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, grounding, shielding, and EMC performance.
• Performing design checks and layout reviews to ensure compliance with internal guidelines, customer requirements, and industry standards.
• Preparing complete manufacturing data packages, including fabrication outputs, assembly documentation, and supplier information.
• Collaborating with hardware, mechanical, EMC, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, quality, and smooth product industrialization.

Ideally You Will Bring

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical field.
• At least 5 to 7 years of practical experience in PCB layout and electronic product development.
• Strong expertise with PCB design tools such as:
• Altium Designer
• Cadence Allegro
• Solid knowledge of:
• PCB technologies
• Manufacturing processes
• Layer stack-ups
• Controlled impedance design
• Differential pair routing
• High-speed signal routing
• Good understanding of:
• EMC-oriented layout
• Grounding concepts
• Filtering

• Signal integrity

• Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
• Design for Test (DFT)

• A proactive working style, attention to detail, mentoring capability, intercultural competence, and solid spoken and written English skills.
