Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Engineering Designer to join the GCC Development team in Noida, Bengaluru or Mumbai, producing detailed highway and drainage designs and construction drawings for US and international markets.

You will apply US/UK standards, utilize Bentley tools (Open Roads, InRoads, MicroStation, Geopak, Synchro) and other software, and mentor junior staff in a dynamic, global environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing highways, motorways, drainage systems, traffic control, maintenance of traffic, traffic signal design, and signs & pavement markings.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and good communication skills.
  • Hands-on mentoring and training of staff to ensure quality of output and continuous technical improvement.
  • Ability to produce designs based on planning strategies and construction specifications for drainage and highways.
  • Significant knowledge of engineering design, design software, technical consent processes, adoption and contract procedures for highways, drainage and utilities in new developments and regeneration projects.
  • Ability to manage numerous assignments concurrently.
  • Proficiency in Open Roads, Geopak, InRoads and similar design software; experience with AutoCAD/AutoDesk suites.
  • Applied knowledge of DMRB, AASHTO, MUTCD, TxDOT standards, specifications and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; committed team player.

  • Ensure technical delivery of highway designs, traffic control, maintenance of traffic, signals, signs and markings.
  • Deliver projects within budget, quality and programme constraints for the US and/or international market.
  • Apply familiarity with US/UK highway standards (AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA, TxDOT, FDOT, GDOT, CalTrans, DMRB, DMBR, etc.).
  • Use Bentley software including Open Roads, InRoads, MicroStation, Geopak, iTWIN, Synchro; and other design software such as Civil3D, ACC, PW Generative components, Concept Station, Dynamo, AI.
  • Operate 3‑D modelling tools and advanced 4‑D construction sequencing (Synchro) for digital delivery.
  • Manage technical design delivery for multiple US projects concurrently, liaising with WSP’s US lead design teams to ensure delivery schedule, quality and budget.
  • Coordinate with local team leaders to optimally allocate resources, identify and resolve surplus or shortfall in available staff/workload.
  • Set clear goals for team members, monitor progress, encourage cost‑effective solutions and support less experienced staff through technical review, mentoring and advice.
  • Short‑term secondment or visits to WSP’s US offices may be required to deepen understanding of WSP methods and to assist with acclimatisation.
