Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies in Bengaluru is seeking an EPS Engineer to design, integrate, and validate electrical power systems for unmanned platforms and collaborative combat aerial vehicles.

You will work on power generation, storage, distribution, and harness routing, ensuring safe, reliable operation of high-performance aerospace systems across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical and power systems engineering including electrical architecture, harness routing, and connector selection with IP/EMC considerations.
• Strong understanding of lithium batteries including capacity estimation, testing, handling and safety.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, EMI/EMC considerations, and fault protection strategies.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defense-grade electrical subsystems and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of aircraft electrical power systems from generation to distribution, including batteries and wiring.
• Generate electrical architecture for aircraft/UAV and evaluate multiple architectures.
• Select harnesses and routing.
• Derive EPS requirements, BOM, and configure EPS for aircraft/UAV.
• Integrate EPS with propulsion, avionics, sensors, and payloads while respecting design constraints.
• Perform load flow, fault analysis, thermal management, and energy optimization analyses.
• Develop test plans, run simulations, and validate EPS components and subsystems.
• Create Acceptance Test Procedures and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system-level integration.
• Support certification, qualification, and reliability processes per aerospace standards.
• Provide root-cause analysis of EPS issues during development and flight trials.

Job description

We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in the development of next-generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) for future warfare needs of the Indian Defense forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms.

Role Overview:

The EPS Engineer will be responsible for the design, integration, and validation of electrical and power distribution systems across advanced unmanned platforms and collaborative combat aerial vehicles. The role requires strong technical depth in power systems engineering coupled with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of high-performance aerospace systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of aircraft electrical power systems from power generation to storage and distribution. The candidate will work with engine alternators, lithium chemistry batteries and associated power distribution.
• Generate electrical architecture relevant to aircraft / UAV and evaluate multiple architectures.
• Harness selection and routing.
• Derive technical requirements for EPS, generate BOM and manage EPS configuration of aircraft / UAV.
• Integrate EPS subsystems with propulsion, avionics, sensors, and payload systems while maintaining compliance with system design constraints.
• Conduct analyses such as load flow, fault analysis, thermal management, and energy optimization for aerospace applications.
• Develop test plans, perform simulations and validation testing of EPS components and subsystems.
• Develop Acceptance Test Procedures and Reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including avionics, propulsion, structures, and systems engineering for seamless system-level integration.
• Support certification, qualification, and reliability processes aligned with aerospace standards.
• Provide troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of EPS during development, integration, and flight trials.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and power systems engineering including but not limited to generating electrical architecture scheme, harness selection and routing, selection of signal and power connectors for various requirements satisfying relevant Ingress Protection and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Strong understanding of lithium batteries - battery capacity estimation, testing, handling and safety.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, EMI/EMC considerations, and fault protection strategies.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defense-grade electrical subsystems and standards.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in designing EPS for UAVs, aircraft, or defense platforms.
• Knowledge of DO-160, MIL-STD-704, or related aerospace power system standards.
• Experience in high-voltage power electronics, hybrid-electric propulsion, and advanced energy storage technologies.
• Exposure to autonomy-driven defense programs or iDEX/DRDO ecosystem.
• Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to innovate in constrained environments.
