Job summary

Swan Defence & Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) in Pipavav, Gujarat, seeks an experienced Draughtsman/Designer (Electrical) to join the Design & Engineering team. You will prepare detailed electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and layouts for shipbuilding and repairs, working with engineers and production staff.

The role requires CAD proficiency, strong drafting skills, and coordination with multiple teams to ensure compliant, high-quality drawings for complex marine projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering or CAD Design.
• 4–10 years of experience in electrical drafting, preferably in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy engineering.
• Proficient in CAD drafting with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE electrical design standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and layouts for shipbuilding and repair projects.
• Develop electrical layouts for power distribution, lighting, control and auxiliary systems.
• Use AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD tools to create/modify drawings.
• Update drawings based on revisions, project requirements and feedback from the design team.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specs, standards, and client requirements.
• Conduct drawing quality checks for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain revision-controlled documentation of electrical drawings.
• Coordinate with production teams to support installation, testing of electrical systems.

Job Summary

The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts for shipbuilding and ship repair projects.

The role requires proficiency in CAD software, strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with electrical engineers, designers, production, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts based on engineering designs.
• Develop electrical layouts for power distribution, lighting, control systems, and auxiliary systems.
• Use AutoCAD Electrical or other relevant CAD tools to create and modify technical drawings.
• Update drawings based on engineering revisions, project requirements, and feedback from the design team.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and client requirements.
• Conduct drawing quality checks to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
• Maintain proper documentation and revision control of electrical drawings.
• Coordinate with production teams to support the installation, assembly, and testing of electrical systems.
• Work closely with electrical engineers, designers, and quality assurance teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Support technical reviews, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities as required.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD drafting software.
• Knowledge of electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and electrical layouts.
• Understanding of power distribution, lighting, control systems, and auxiliary electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and relevant electrical design standards.
• Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and incorporate design modifications.
• Good coordination and communication skills.

Educational Qualification

Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, CAD Design, or a related discipline , B.Tech.

Experience

4 to 10 + years of experience in electrical drafting, preferably in the shipbuilding, marine, ship repair, or heavy engineering industry.
