Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Engineer to join the Great Grid project at High Marnham, Nottinghamshire. The role focuses on Civil Engineering delivery on a major grid upgrade, with responsibilities across setting out, temporary works, quality systems, and procurement.

You will work within Expanded's structures team on delivering complex infrastructure with collaborative cross-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with LOR procedures.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent plus demonstrable experience in construction delivery.
• Approximately 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity.

Responsibilities

• Utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information for Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
• Fully implement and ensure compliance with LOR Management of Temporary Works procedures.
• Determine appropriate methods of dimensional control and ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Define scope of as-built surveys and reporting to demonstrate compliance.
• Produce and ensure ITPs address specification and contractual obligations.
• Adhere to project and company quality procedures and recommend best engineering methods.

Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join one of our Great Grid projects in High Marnham (Nottinghamshire)

The Great Grid Upgrade, is building the significant new electricity network infrastructure required to reduce the UK's reliance on fossil fuels by connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. As part of this partnership, we have a requirement on one of the substation projects in High Marnham.

The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services. Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.

Role & Responsibilities

• Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
• Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
• Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.
• Ensures that project and company quality procedures are adhered
• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
• Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
