Job summary

Laing O'Rourke in Oxford is seeking a Project Engineer (Site Agent) with a civil engineering background to join our delivery teams on major projects. You will manage setting out, temporary works procedures, ITPs and coordinate with 3D CAD data and on-site teams to ensure compliance with specifications.

The ideal candidate has about 8 years of civil engineering experience, a recognized qualification (degree or equivalent) and a proven ability to lead a team, plan procurement and report progress

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, or industry-recognised equivalent
• Around 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering delivery environment
• Structures experience is desirable

Responsibilities

• Utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information for Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets
• Implement and ensure compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary Works procedure
• Determine appropriate methods of dimensional control and ensure setting out data is controlled
• Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data
• Define survey scope and as-built survey reports to demonstrate compliance
• Produce and ensure ITPs are created, available and implemented
• Adhere to project and company quality procedures
• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods
• Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments

Job description

Expanded are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer (Site Agent) to join our team in Oxford.

The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services. Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.

Role & Responsibilities

• Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
• Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
• Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.

• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
• Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
• Structures experience - desired
