Job summary

Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited in Chennai is seeking a Sr. Engineer for PURCHASE (MOTORS) - CM. The role focuses on on-time sourcing, commodity buying, supplier development, and cross-functional coordination to meet program timelines.

Candidate should have BE (Mech) with 4–8 years in automotive purchasing, strong costing knowledge, and ERP/SAP proficiency. Exposure to PPAP, cost reduction, and localization is preferred.

Qualifications

• BE (Mech) with 4–8 years of experience in automotive purchasing
• Experience in sourcing, commodity management and PPAP
• Knowledge of costing and supplier development in casting, forging, machining, sheet metal and plastics

Responsibilities

• Identify suppliers for castings, forgings, machining, sheet metal, plastics
• Manage RFQs and on-time sourcing within targets
• Lead cost reduction through negotiation, alternate sourcing, VAVE and localization
• Drive part development and supplier development
• Oversee purchasing deliverables up to PPAP and launch
• Explore new suppliers per commodity requirements
• Manage engineering changes per program requirements
• Rationalize vendor base and manage raw material price movements
• Support capacity augmentation and procurement planning

Job Purpose:
Responsible and accountable for ensuring on time sourcing, commodity buyer, commodity leads, commercial finalization and Part development as per timelines in close co-ordination with cross functional team

1. Supplier Identification for various commodities Castings, Forgings, Machining, Sheetmetal, Plastics
2. RFQ management
3. On time sourcing within targets
4. Material Cost Reduction through Negotiation, Alternate sourcing, VAVE and Localization

6. Driving and ensuring Purchasing deliverables until PPAP and launch
7. Exploring new suppliers as per Commodity requirements
8. Managing Engineering changes as per the Program requirements
