1. Electrical Design & Engineering
- Lead or execute the electrical design of PDCs, PECs, modular electrical enclosures, and containerized power systems.
- Develop and review electrical system architecture, power distribution schemes, and equipment layouts.
- Review and approve:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) & Electrical schematics
- Wiring and termination diagrams
- Cable schedules & Load schedules
- Equipment layouts & Panel and enclosure layouts
- Interconnection diagrams
- Ensure electrical designs are optimized for modular/containerized construction, transportation, installation, maintenance, and field operation.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, structural, HVAC, instrumentation, and piping disciplines.
2. Electrical Equipment Selection & Sizing
- Review the sizing of:
- ACBs, VCBs, MCCBs and MCBs
- Busbars and busbar systems
- Power and control cables
- Protection relays
- Metering and monitoring equipment
- Transformers and auxiliary equipment
- UPS and battery systems
- Distribution boards and control panels
- Review:
- Load calculations
- Voltage-drop calculations
- Short-circuit calculations
- Protection coordination
- Cable sizing
- Busbar sizing
- Equipment rating verification
- Evaluate electrical equipment based on technical requirements, reliability, maintainability, availability, and cost.
3. Project Engineering & Coordination
- Coordinate with Project Managers to align engineering deliverables with project schedules and priorities.
- Plan and monitor electrical engineering activities and deliverables.
- Identify technical issues, design risks, and interface constraints and drive them to closure.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, FAT, installation, commissioning, and site teams.
- Provide technical support during fabrication and resolve engineering queries arising from manufacturing and site activities.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendors for technical evaluation and equipment selection.
5. Team Leadership & Development
For Electrical Lead:
- Lead and mentor electrical engineers, designers, and draftsmen.
- Allocate engineering tasks based on project priorities and team capabilities.
- Review engineering deliverables and provide technical direction.
- Conduct design reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Develop engineering standards, checklists, templates, and best practices.
- Support capability development and training of junior engineers.
6. Standards, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with applicable international and local standards, including IEC, ANSI/NFPA and relevant electrical regulations, as applicable to the project.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications and project-specific engineering standards.
- Follow established QA/QC procedures and engineering documentation practices.
- Participate in design audits, technical reviews, risk assessments, and design verification activities.
- Ensure electrical designs meet required safety, reliability, maintainability, and performance criteria.
7. Client, Consultant & Vendor Coordination
- Review client specifications, drawings, datasheets, and technical requirements.
- Provide technical clarifications and responses to client and consultant comments.
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Review vendor drawings, datasheets, calculations, and technical offers.
- Support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection.
- Provide technical inputs to tendering, estimation, procurement, and proposal teams.
8. Manufacturing & Testing Support
- Support manufacturing teams with electrical design clarifications and engineering changes.
- Review panel and enclosure fabrication requirements.
- Support electrical inspection, testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Resolve design issues identified during assembly and testing.
- Capture manufacturing feedback and incorporate lessons learned into future PDC/PEC designs.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with PDCs, PECs, MCCs, PCCs, switchboards, control panels, or similar packaged electrical systems is highly preferred.
- Good knowledge of IEC/ANSI/NFPA standards and applicable electrical regulations.
- Strong understanding of electrical protection, power distribution, equipment selection, and electrical calculations.
- Experience with electrical engineering and drafting software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, or equivalent tools is preferred.
