Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller India is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer with 6+ years of experience to lead electrical design and problem-solving for paper processing systems in its Chennai-area facilities. The role emphasizes cost control, manufacturing feasibility, and collaboration with global teams.

You will read schematics, prepare BOMs, and support manufacturing; occasional travel to customer sites is required. Bachelor's in electrical engineering is mandatory, with preference for printing/packaging

Job Description:

Sr. Electrical Engineer with 6+ years of experience is responsible for performing electrical design, technical analysis, and resolving engineering challenges with a focus on manufacturing feasibility, cost control, and operational efficiency. This role requires applying practical engineering knowledge to deliver effective solutions while working independently under general supervision. The position involves continuous learning of organizational practices and collaboration with various teams, with moderate guidance provided as needed.

Technical skills:

• Design/alteration of moderately complex electrical equipment for paper processing systems
• Prepare layouts using CAD tools
• Evaluation of moderately complex designs; make engineering changes
• Evaluate and select new parts
• Prepare schematics, assemblies, detailed drawings and bills of material (BOM) for moderately complex equipment
• May support manufacturing/assembly teams
• Manage and maintain product/project files
• Test and debug equipment to isolate defects
• May travel to customer site to support field teams with technical assistance as required
• Other duties as assigned

Mandatory Tool Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret moderately complex electrical schematics and mechanical assembly layouts
• Working knowledge of CAD and engineering systems, like AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken E3 (Added advantage)
• Strong logical and reasoning abilities
• Strong problem-solving ability using systematic approach
• Working knowledge of manufacturing methods and electrical design
• Exposure to project management environment
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in customer's facility and manage relationships
• Must be able to perform all Level I duties competently

Travel:

Occasional domestic and/or global travel is required for this position.

Position Type:

This is a regular, full-time, in-office position with the understanding that a regular workweek will require extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs.

Education and Experience

• bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Industrial Machineries and Equipment, discrete product machineries
• Experience in Printing, Packaging and Converting Machines OEM is preferrable.
