Job summary

Adecco India is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to support electrical design for oil and gas projects. The role involves leading power system studies, equipment sizing and protection schemes, and ensuring safety and quality across deliverables.

You will review calculations, vendor drawings, and BOMs, while coordinating with procurement and construction teams to meet project targets. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
• Minimum 15 to 25 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering within Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of electrical calculations and power system studies.
• Experience with electrical equipment specs, procurement and vendor drawing reviews.
• Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification and Electric Heat Tracing Design.
• Experience with ETAP/SKM, SPEL, SPR/Navisworks and lighting design software (Dialux).
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/NEPA/NEMA/NFPA/API/IS and other codes and standards.
• Ability to ensure timely, quality project deliverables and risk mitigation.
• Strong communication and leadership to coordinate with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform activities assigned by the Lead on a project ensuring quality, budget and schedule.
• Conduct power system studies (Load flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Harmonics, Transient, Arch Flash).
• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design.
• Carry out equipment sizing calculations for transformers, switchgear, DG, capacitors, UPS etc.
• Review electrical calculations, voltage drop, earthing and lighting calculations.
• Develop protection and metering schematics for HV/MV/LV systems.
• Review BOMs, material specs, procurement docs and vendor drawings.
• Interface with procurement, support vendor qualification and expediting.
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to meet project specs.
• Witness factory acceptance tests and provide engineering support to construction.
• Provide training and technical guidance to engineers/designers.
• Contribute to department standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

Job description

• Perform the activities as assigned by the Lead on a project and execute the work with quality, budget and schedule.
• Conduct Power System Studies (using ETAP /SKM etc. softwares) such as Load flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Harmonics, Transient, Arch Flash studies and Relay setting & relay coordination. (Proven experience in power system studies for large-scale plants connected to 132kV systems with 1000+ nodes will be a preferred skillset).
• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design.
• Carry-out Equipment Sizing calculations e.g. Transformer, Switchgear, Emergency Diesel Generator, Capacitor Banks, AC & DC UPS, etc.
• Review electrical calculations such as voltage drop/cable derating, Earthing & Lightning calculations and Lighting calculations.
• Develop Protection & Metering SLDs for HV/MV/LV systems.
• Review Load List, cable schedules, Panel schedules and Protection Block diagrams.
• Review Motor schematics and interconnection diagrams.
• Review Area Classifications Layouts based on Hazardous source list and Equipment selection.
• Review Electrical Equipment Datasheets, Material requisitions, Technical Bid evaluations and Purchase requisitions.
• Interface with procurement teams to provide technical support for material purchasing and vendor qualification and expedition.
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
• Review and approve supplier design drawings/documents.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, and other design reviews.
• Review and approve Bill of Materials (BOM), and other material-related documentation.
• Input to MR prepared by other discipline such as Mechanical, Building etc. and review their vendor package drawings.
• Input to bid package and construction tenders.
• Witness factory acceptance tests for Equipment.
• Provide engineering assistance to construction team.
• Provide training and technical guidance to engineers /designers.
• Assist in the development of department standards, procedures, practices, and guidelines and other departmental activities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from recognized University / Institution.
• Experience: Minimum 15 to 25 year of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering within the Oil and Gas industry.
• Job knowledge of Electrical Engineering and Design.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical calculations and Power system studies.
• Experience of Electrical equipment and bulk material specifications, procurement and vendor drawing reviews.
• Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification, Cathodic Protection Systems, Electric Heat Tracing Design.
• Experience of ETAP/SKM etc., Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), SPR/Navisworks and Lighting Design softwares (Dialux etc.).
• Knowledge of National/International Code and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, API, IS etc.).
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of project deliverables. Initiate actions to meet or exceed project targets by proactively mitigating risks.
• Monitor and check the work of teammates to a sufficient detail to ensure quality production.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate effectively with people at all levels, internal, external and clients.
