Job summary

Maersk Line India Pvt Ltd in Chennai seeks a Senior Landside Specialist to ensure smooth freight flow by coordinating and resolving operational issues for drivers and containers. The role emphasizes timely pickups, port appointments, and continuous communication with drivers, terminals and clients to optimize transport efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have 4–5 years in operations or logistics, strong English communication, advanced Excel, and familiarity with Power BI, Python or R.

Qualifications

• Graduate or Postgraduate of at least 4–5 years in operations, financial analysis, Shipping and logistics business.
• Willing to work in full night shifts.
• Excellent communication skills (English) – fluent oral & written.
• Fluent with Windows applications and strong MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivots, complex formulas) and MS PowerPoint.
• Analytical and problem-solving ability for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Willingness to build on and experiment with data and Maersk's platforms, in addition to our own services.
• Ability to communicate data-driven solutions and recommendations to business stakeholders.
• Passionate to lead initiatives, creative and innovative.
• Ambitious and result-oriented self-starter with change-management drive.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate freight movements, ensuring efficient assignments to drivers.
• Develop and oversee logistics operations to guarantee timely pickup of loaded and empty containers.
• Monitor and confirm drivers from the previous day are actively working.
• Schedule and manage appointments for cargo pickup and delivery at the port.
• Arrange and secure chassis reservations to support driver operations.
• Maintain communication with clients, terminals and drivers to ensure successful movements.
• Request road service and chassis maintenance when needed.
• Escalate issues communicated by drivers when assisting.
• Use optimizer as a secondary planning tool.
• Update customer's TMS.
• Update and send customer container recaps.
• Report container damages.
• Update the Daily Recap and Daily Hand-Off reports.
• Assign loads and empties in Trinium.

Multi Carrier - Landside Senior Specialist Job Purpose/summary

The Dispatch Senior Specialist is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient flow of freight by managing and resolving any operational issues drivers may encounter. This role focuses on overseeing the timely pickup and return of loaded and empty containers, coordinating movements between warehouses and terminals, and ensuring all necessary resources are in place. By maintaining direct communication with drivers, terminals and clients, the Dispatch Specialist ensures that logistical operations run smoothly, minimizing delays and optimizing transportation efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• a. Plan and coordinate freight movements, ensuring efficient assignments to drivers.

• c. Monitor and confirm that drivers assigned from the previous day are actively working on their designated tasks.

• f. Maintain effective communication with clients, terminals, and drivers to ensure the successful completion of required movements.
• g. Request road service and chassis maintenance when needed.

Required experience & skills
