Job summary

Valeo is seeking an Optic Engineer to lead complex engineering projects and drive practical, cost-aware solutions in a global mobility context. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, problem solving using QRQC, and the development of design standards aligned with Valeo strategy.

The ideal candidate will mentor peers, share best practices, and contribute to digitalization and continuous improvement efforts within the optics discipline.

Depending on his/her scope, the incumbent will be in charge of one the domain :

Budget

• Budget Commitment : Demonstrate commitment to achieving project budgets by optimizing resource allocation and adhering to cost-effective engineering practices.

Support operations :

• Lead Complex Projects : Lead the technical execution of engineering projects, particularly those involving Newness levels 2-3 (new designs based on existing knowledge or design based on existing rules).
• Technical Problem Solving : Serve as a referent for critical problem solving within the Discipline, utilizing Valeo standard methodologies like QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control) to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Customer Communication : Effectively communicate complex technical solutions and challenges to internal and external customers, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Technical Transversal Sharing : Proactively share technical knowledge and best practices across teams and divisions, fostering collaboration and knowledge dissemination.

Competencies:

• Technical Coaching and Mentoring : Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Discipline Engineers, fostering their professional development and expertise.
• Design Standards Development : Leverage expertise to build, improve, and validate design standards for Newness levels 2-3, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Valeo's strategic objectives.

Efficiency :

• Digitalization Roadmap Execution : Actively participate in the execution of the Discipline's Digitalization Roadmap, identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Continuous Improvement : Analyze problem-solving outcomes to identify systemic issues and propose improvements to existing processes and methodologies.

Innovation :

• Innovative Solution Development : Propose and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to engineering challenges, leveraging existing technologies and methodologies.
• Intellectual Property Protection : Identify patentable inventions arising from innovative solutions and actively participate in the patent filing process (IP).

Collaboration and Influence :

• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with engineers and stakeholders from other Disciplines to ensure seamless project execution and integrated solutions.
