The Senior Dimensional Variation Analyst is responsible for leading the integration and application of dimensional variation analysis (DVA) as part of GE Appliances dimensional control strategy to deliver industry-leading products for our consumers. The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of statistical process control, dimensional tolerancing, and root cause analysis, and will be capable of mentoring DVA engineers.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the Dimensional Variation Analysis activities on new product designs to enable industry leading product Craftsmanship, and robust product and process designs.
  • Assist with identification of key function interfaces for parts and assemblies, highlight design risk areas, and propose alternative solutions supported through DVA simulation.
  • Develop DVA as a core competency across the business, by leading the transition from 1D tolerance analysis to 3D tolerance analysis.
  • Ability to identify between 1D & 2D,3D analysis requirements and pick the analysis approach accordingly.
  • Lead robust implementation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). functional datums and locators, and robust design optimization.
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring for design engineers related to the application of variation analysis, locator designs, vector diagrams, datum coordination and worse case analysis.
  • Leverage Model Based Definition (MBD) processes to enable lean product development through digital re-use.
  • Champion and promote digital-centric engineering culture that is focused on digital transformation to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Lead innovation efforts and adoption of best practices through external collaborations, benchmarking, and industry partnerships.
  • Ability to interpret 3D Measurement data and incorporate the same in the analysis.
  • Understanding of process DVA and locator strategies to optimize joining processes.

3DCS Software Experience Is a Must For This Role.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Position Requirement

  • Work with limited domain guidance in cross-functional team environment and onshore DVA team is USA.
  • Proven ability of problem-solving skills, self-learning abilities and shown track record of technical excellence.
  • Proficient technical communication skills to interact with stakeholders and DVA team.
  • Proven application of locators in design and/or process to drive design optimization and solve complex assembly challenges.
  • Ability to coach, train and mentor upcoming DVA Engineers.
  • Ability to manage project status and adjust priorities across DVA Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product design engineering or DVA.
  • 5+ years of experience in using 3DCS software for DVA.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience in product design engineering or DVA in consumer products, automotive or other comparable industry.
  • Skilled in using 3DCS software for DVA.
  • Strong understanding of statistical process control, dimensional tolerancing, and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient technical communication skills, ability to influence optimized design solutions.
  • Highly skilled in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Model-Based Definition experience preferred.
  • Experienced in CAD environments, Creo experience preferred.
  • Experienced in working with PLM systems online, Windchill experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Working from B’lore office
  • Weekend or Holiday access to workstation/ HPC to monitor and schedule the work.
  • Frequent interactions with US stake holders and collaboration time of 3 to 4 hours per US time zone
