Job summary

Platform9 Systems is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own core infrastructure for our SaaS platform, from design through day-to-day reliability. This hands-on role requires 6 to 10 years in DevOps and cloud-native tech, with strong Kubernetes and automation skills.

You will drive infrastructure as code (Terragrunt/Terraform), build CI/CD pipelines, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining cost-efficient, scalable systems across AWS and OCI.

Qualifications

6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
Strong production experience with Kubernetes, including cluster administration, upgrades, networking, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Terragrunt, or similar) on AWS or OCI.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
Solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and NAT.
Incident management experience, including on-call, troubleshooting under pressure, and writing clear postmortems.

Responsibilities

Own the design, build, and operation of core infrastructure for our SaaS platform, including Kubernetes clusters, OpenStack environments, and supporting services on AWS and OCI.
Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployments with infrastructure as code (Terragrunt/Terraform).
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in partnership with the engineering teams.
Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability so we catch problems before customers do.
Troubleshoot production issues, take part in the on-call rotation, and drive root-cause analysis to closure.
Apply Kubernetes and cloud security best practices across the stack.
Keep infrastructure reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient as usage grows.
Contribute to architecture decisions and the DevOps roadmap, and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and clear runbooks.

Position Summary

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own key parts of the infrastructure behind our SaaS platform, from design through day-to-day reliability. This role is for a hands-on engineer with 6 to 10 years of experience in DevOps and cloud-native technologies.

As a key member of the Engineering Operations team, you will be a go-to engineer for Kubernetes, automation, and SaaS platform scaling. You will turn the team’s DevOps roadmap into working systems, replacing manual processes with robust, scalable automation.

You will contribute to architecture decisions, best practices, and process improvements across the team. Expect to keep our infrastructure reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient as we grow, and to mentor junior engineers along the way.

Requirements

6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, ideally in high-growth, cloud-native environments.
Strong production experience with Kubernetes, including cluster administration, upgrades, networking, and troubleshooting.
Solid grasp of Kubernetes security best practices, such as RBAC, network policies, and secrets management.
Experience deploying, operating, and scaling SaaS platforms with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Terragrunt, or similar) on AWS or OCI.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
Solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and NAT.
Incident management experience, including on-call, troubleshooting under pressure, and writing clear postmortems.
A track record of owning infrastructure projects end to end with minimal supervision.
A holistic, systems-engineering approach to delivering technology solutions.

Preferred Skills

Experience with OpenStack or other open-source infrastructure projects.
Advanced experience with CI/CD methodologies and tooling.
Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Cortex, Loki, or Groundcover.
Experience defining and tracking SLOs, SLIs, and other operational metrics.
Configuration management experience with Salt, Ansible, Chef, or similar.
Familiarity with industry-standard security practices and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.
