We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who has operated production systems at scale, takes strong ownership, and can mentor junior engineers across distributed teams (US and global). This is a hands‑on senior individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibilities — not a management position. We’re looking for someone who takes accountability for uptime and reliability, raises the technical bar for the team, and thrives in a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment.
What You Will Do
- Build, manage, and scale AWS infrastructure (ECS, EC2, VPC, IAM, networking)
- Maintain and improve containerized services using Docker (EKS/Kubernetes exposure is a plus)
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub & GitHub Actions
- Improve system reliability, high availability, and deployment practices
- Implement monitoring and observability using Datadog
- Support data systems including Databricks and streaming services like Kinesis
- Participate in and lead production incident response and root cause analysis
- Support and maintain SOC 2 compliance controls
- Drive automation, cost optimization, and performance improvements
- Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers across US and international teams
- Partnership & Low‑Ego Collaboration: You work closely with engineering, product, and cross‑functional teams, sharing ownership of outcomes. You welcome feedback, prioritize team success over individual credit, and build trust across distributed teams.
- Ownership with a Bias for Action: You take responsibility for systems end‑to‑end. You make pragmatic decisions, move with urgency, and deliver reliable solutions in a fast‑paced startup environment without waiting to be told what to do.
- Adaptability & Problem‑Solving Mindset: You stay calm under pressure, especially during production incidents. You learn quickly, think in systems, and balance reliability, scalability, and cost while working constructively with others.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years managing large‑scale production systems
- Proven experience taking ownership of infrastructure in live production environments
- Strong AWS and containerization expertise
- Experience working in SOC 2 or compliance‑driven environments
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, IAM, and security best practices
- Strong CI/CD and automation mindset
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Ability to mentor, review architecture decisions, and elevate junior engineers
- High ownership, curiosity, and self‑starter mentality
Reporting: This position will report to the Director Of Engineering
