The ideal candidate has deep experience in AWS, Snowflake and Power BI, plus proven leadership of large programs and contractor teams focused on operational reporting.

What You'll do

In the role of Delivery Manager - Engineering at Principal Financial Group, you will be responsible for driving delivery across multiple data initiatives, setting directions on data architecture and engineering best practices, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring strong execution. From a technical standpoint, we're looking for someone with strong experience in AWS, Snowflake, Power BI, modern data platforms, and data architecture, along with proven leadership experience managing large engineering teams and complex programs.

You'll have opportunity to:

• Provide engineering and delivery leadership across the Distribution Data portfolio.
• Guide data architecture, engineering practices, quality, governance, observability, and modernization decisions.
• Drive portfolio planning, prioritization, dependency management, risk management, and execution transparency.
• Partner with Home Office and GCH stakeholders to align outcomes, decisions, and trade-offs.
• Lead the contractor team responsible for operational reporting and improve knowledge ownership and delivery sustainability.
• Develop technical leaders and strengthen data capability across the team.

Who You Are

This is a Senior Delivery Manager - Engineering role leading the Distribution Data Program. You'll provide leadership for a 20+ member data engineering team and oversee a contractor team supporting operational reporting. On a day-to-day basis, you'll work closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Product teams, and business stakeholders across both Home Office and GCH locations.

Education

Graduate – Bachelor's degree (Engineering) or Masters in Computers or relevant

Experience

13 to 15 years

• Strong background in data engineering, modern data platforms, data architecture, and data products
• Experience leading complex data initiatives and engineering teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
• Experience partnering with senior global stakeholders across locations.
• Ability to lead both employees and contractor teams, including operational reporting work.
• Strong communication, decision facilitation, and execution discipline.
• Expertise in the area of AWS, Snowflake, Power BI.
