Job summary

Hibob Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Database Administrator to own and optimize PostgreSQL/CloudSQL and ClickHouse across production, staging, and analytics environments.

You will design high availability, replication with Patroni/pgPool-II/HAProxy, and perform query tuning with Advanced tools, while enforcing encryption, RBAC, and PCI/ISO security standards. You will lead zero-downtime migrations and automate provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and Python, operating within Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL/CloudSQL in production
• Experience with ClickHouse or similar analytical databases
• Expertise in replication, encryption, security, and compliance (PCI DSS, ISO 27001)
• Proficiency in query tuning and database observability tools
• Strong understanding of HA, backups, DR strategies, and zero-downtime migrations
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Python) and cloud platforms

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize systems with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog; capacity planning

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to own and optimize the performance, security, and scalability of our data platforms across PostgreSQL (including VM-based and Cloud-Managed instances) and ClickHouse platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in replication, encryption, query optimization, security, automation, and cloud-native database management — working closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure seamless database performance, secure data handling, and efficient production migrations.

This role is critical in designing andmaintaininghigh-performing, resilient database ecosystems that power our fintech and data-driven products.

What will you be doing?

• Manage andoptimizePostgreSQL, CloudSQL , and ClickHouse across production, staging, and analytics environments
• Design high availability and replication setups using tools like Patroni, pgPool -II, and HAProxy
• Perform query performance tuning using pg_stat_statements , EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, and CloudSQL Insights
• Optimizeschemas, indexing, and queries for both OLTP and OLAP workloads in collaboration with engineering teams
• Implement database security with encryption (at rest/in transit), RBAC, auditing, and compliance (PCI DSS, ISO 27001)
• Lead data migrations with zero downtime, including ETL design, validation, rollback planning, and CI/CD integration
• Automate provisioning and operations using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and manage databases in Kubernetes environments
• Monitor andoptimizesystems using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and support capacity planning, scaling, and SLA targets

Who are you?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Systems, or a related field
• 8+ years of hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL/ CloudSQL in production environments
• Strong experience with ClickHouse or similar analytical databases (e.g., BigQuery , Redshift)
• Expertisein database security, including encryption, key management, and compliance (PCI DSS, ISO 27001)
• Proficiencyin query tuning, performance optimization, and database observability tools
• Solid understanding of replication,architecture,high availability, backups, and disaster recovery strategies
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized databases, automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Python), and familiarity with cloud platforms, ETL pipelines, and relevant certifications
