You will collaborate with developers and IT teams to support data needs, optimize queries, and implement backups, DR plans, and security controls across PostgreSQL and other RDBMS.
We are hiring a Senior Database Administrator (7+ years experience) to join our IT team at V2 Retail. The DBA will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing enterprise databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. You will also work with developers, IT teams, and business users to support critical applications and data needs.
Install, configure, and maintain databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server).
Ensure database availability, performance tuning, and optimization.
Manage backups, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and data replication.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues.
Design and manage schemas, tables, indexes, and storage structures.
Ensure database security, access control, and compliance.
Support ETL processes, data migration, and integration projects.
Work with development teams to optimize queries and database design.
Prepare and maintain database documentation, standards, and best practices.
Mentor and guide junior DBAs and developers.
7+ years of hands-on DBA experience.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and at least one other RDBMS (SQL Server/Oracle/MySQL).
Expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning.
Proven experience in backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
Solid understanding of data security, roles, permissions, and encryption.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
Hands-on experience with high-availability setups (clustering, replication, failover).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud).
Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).
Familiarity with data warehousing, BI tools, and reporting systems.
Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
