Job summary

Sandoz seeks a Senior Data Engineer - Global Development, Portfolio & Pipeline (GDPP) to design, build, and maintain data pipelines moving GDPP data into Sandoz's enterprise data platform. You will transform complex business data into trusted data products enabling data-driven decisions across regulatory, portfolio, quality, and biosimilar development functions.

As a Senior Data Engineer - Global Development, Portfolio & Pipeline (GDPP) , you will build, own, and maintain the data pipelines that bring GDPP data from source systems into Sandoz's enterprise data platform. You will play a key role in transforming complex business data into trusted, business-ready data products, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to shape the data foundation supporting regulatory, portfolio, quality, and biosimilar development functions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines from GDPP source systems into the enterprise data platform.
• Implement and operationalize the enterprise data model by building robust transformations that cleanse, standardize, and integrate source data.
• Build and maintain business-ready datasets and data products aligned with business requirements and data product specifications.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement data quality controls, validation frameworks, and automated checks to ensure trusted and accurate data assets.
• Work across Databricks and AWS-based environments, including S3, ECS/ECR, Python-based ETL processes, and cloud-native data services.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data flows, transformation logic, lineage, and operational processes.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, business stakeholders, analysts, and SMEs to translate requirements into effective data solutions.
• KPI: Ensure high availability, reliability, and quality of enterprise data pipelines supporting business-critical reporting and analytics.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer building and supporting production-grade data pipelines with medium to large-scale datasets.
• Strong expertise in SQL with deep experience in analytical queries, data transformations, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with dbt or comparable transformation frameworks and modern data modeling methodologies.
• Proficiency in Python for data ingestion, automation, and transformation workflows.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Apache Spark, and AWS services.
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and modern engineering practices including testing, code reviews, and CI/CD.
• Ability to own solutions end-to-end, including design, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with experience handling complex and imperfect source data.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work directly with business teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and regulatory compliance practices.
