Job summary

Programmers.io is seeking a Senior Data Architect with strong Pre-Sales and Data Modernization experience who can engage with customers, understand business and technology challenges, define solutions, develop proposals, and work with Sales to shape and close opportunities.

The role requires leading large-scale Data Modernization programs from strategy through architecture to execution, with excellent communication to senior stakeholders and a focus on governance, quality, and Azure Data

Qualifications

• 14–18 years in Data Architecture / Data Engineering / Solution Architecture.
• Strong Pre-Sales / Solution Consulting in a customer-facing role.
• Proven large-scale Data Modernization / Data Transformation programs from strategy to execution.
• Ability to conduct customer discovery and map challenges to data solutions.
• Translate customer challenges into data strategy, target architecture and technology.
• Experience creating RFP/RFI responses, SOWs, estimates and proposals.
• Work with Sales/BD to qualify, shape and close opportunities.
• Expertise in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes/Lakehouses, ETL/ELT and Data Integration.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL, OneLake/Data Factory/Dataflows Gen2.
• Understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata, Lineage and Security.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer engagements to understand business and technology challenges.
• Translate findings into data strategy, target architecture and solutions.
• Prepare RFPs, RFI responses, SOWs and technical proposals for opportunities.
• Collaborate with Sales to shape, qualify and close deals.
• Develop and present data modernization roadmaps and reference architectures.
• Ensure data governance, quality, metadata and security considerations are embedded.

Looking for a Senior Data Architect with strong Pre-Sales + Data Modernization experience who can engage with customers, understand business/technology challenges, define solutions, develop proposals/SOWs, and work closely with Sales to shape and close opportunities. The candidate should have experience leading large-scale Data Modernization programs from strategy and assessment through architecture and execution.

Must Have

• 14–18 years of experience in Data Architecture / Data Engineering / Data Consulting / Solution Architecture.
• Strong Pre-Sales / Solution Consulting experience in a customer-facing role.
• Proven experience in large-scale Data Modernization / Data Transformation programs from strategy → architecture → implementation/execution.
• Ability to conduct customer discovery, understand business/technology challenges and identify gaps.
• Ability to translate customer challenges into data strategy, target architecture and technology solutions.
• Strong experience creating RFP/RFI responses, technical proposals, SOWs, effort estimates and solution presentations.
• Experience working closely with Sales/Business Development to qualify, shape and close opportunities/deals.
• Strong expertise in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes/Lakehouses, ETL/ELT and Data Integration.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL, OneLake/Data Factory/Dataflows Gen2.
• Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata, Lineage and Security.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior customer stakeholders and executives.

Good to Have

• Experience in legacy-to-cloud data modernization/migration programs.
• Experience across AWS / GCP in addition to Azure.
• Experience with Power BI / Tableau / Qlik.
• Knowledge of dbt, ER/Studio, Python, Spark or Scala.
• Experience developing reference architectures, accelerators and reusable solution frameworks.
• Consulting / System Integration / IT Services industry experience.
• Experience with solution estimation, delivery models and commercial/deal shaping.
