Job summary

Bechtel India Office is seeking a Control Systems Designer for large energy, oil, gas, and chemicals projects based in Chennai. The role requires hands-on expertise in 3D modeling, instrumentation drawings, and electrical layout with strong communication skills for client/contractor coordination.

The ideal candidate has a 15-year track record in similar EPC domains, and is proficient in S3D, SPI, SPR, Rev it, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, with NFPA 72 interpretation and I/O design experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication or Instrumentation from a recognized college.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the related industry.
• EPC execution experience in large energy, oil, gas, chemicals, and mining projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D model in S3D and extract location plans.
• Prepare Instrument Wiring Drawings and Loop Drawings using SPI.
• Create Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Schedules, and Tray Layouts.
• Prepare Fire & Gas Layout Drawings and Hook Up Drawings with MicroStation/AutoCAD.
• Develop MTO and Material Requisition for cables, conduits and bulks.
• Load JB and RIO cabinets, estimate home run cable lengths for FEED.
• Perform 30/50/90% model reviews and resolve tags with clients and vendors.
• Conduct clash checks to ensure a reliable system design.
• Support I&C commodities in modularized design and control room layouts.

Project Overview

Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices.

Job Summary

Bechtel India Office is currently seeking Control Systems Designer for Large Energy, Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Renewable Energy, Semiconductor manufacturing and Mining & Metal projects. The ideal candidate, in addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge need to be a self-starter and possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Major Responsibilities

• Development of 3D Model in S3D and extraction of Location Plan drawings in Smart Sketch
• Preparation of Instrument Wiring Drawing and Loop Drawings using SPI
• Development of Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Schedule, Cable Routing & Tray Route Layout, JB Termination Drawing, Control & network patch panels drawings.
• Preparation of Fire & Gas Layout Drawings.
• Develop Instrument Hook Up Drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD and generation of Hook Up Sketches using SPI.
• Preparation of Tray / Trench Layouts & Cable Routing Index and MCT Layouts.
• Preparation for 30%, 50% and 90% Model Reviews and resolution of tags with Client, Sub-Contractors and Vendors.
• Perform Clash Checks in 3D Model to develop a clash free system design.
• Support I&C commodities in Modularized Design
• Preparation of Control Room and Electrical Substation Layout Drawings
• Preparation of MTO and development of Material Requisition of Instrumentation for Cables, Conduits and Bulks.
• Loading of JB and RIO Cabinets, estimation of Fan out cable and Home Run Cable Length for FEED estimates.

Education And Experience Requirements

• 3-year diploma in Electronics & Telecommunications, Electronics & Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Systems from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the similar industry.
• EED and EPC Execution experience of Large Energy, Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Renewable Energy, Semiconductor manufacturing and Mining & Metal projects.

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Highly proficient in S3D, SPI, SPR, Revit modeling, Navisworks, PDS, AutoCAD, MicroStation and Bluebeam
• Thorough knowledge in P&IDs, Cable Schedule, IO List and Network Architecture.
• Fire & Gas Layout and interpretation of NFPA 72
• Remote I/O Design of major DCS Vendors.
• Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to designs.
