Job summary

Optum Hyderabad seeks a seasoned Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC. You will develop CI/CD pipelines and manage data platforms like MongoDB Atlas, while ensuring security and performance for microservices deployed with Kubernetes.

Your work spans IAM, networking, monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, plus on-call responsibilities to keep platforms healthy. The role requires strong scripting and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps or SRE.
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Experience managing production database systems.
• Strong networking knowledge (VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancing).
• Proficiency with AWS (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, EKS/ECS, Lambda).
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python or Bash.

Primary Responsibilities

Builder Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and manage our cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools like Terraform


• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, testing, and deployment of our Spring Boot applications


• Manage and optimize our data platforms, including MongoDB Atlas, ensuring performance, security, and scalability


• Implement and manage container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS) or ECS for deploying microservices


• Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch to ensure platform health and performance


• Collaborate with development teams to create and support a seamless developer experience, providing self-service tools and environments


• Ensure the security of the cloud platform by implementing best practices for identity and access management (IAM), network security, and data protection


• Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to and resolve production incidents


• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE role


• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation


• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)


• Experience managing and supporting production database systems


• Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancing)


• Solid proficiency with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, EKS/ECS, Lambda)


• Proficiency with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes


• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash)

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree t experience


• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect)


• Experience supporting Java-based applications, particularly those built with the Spring Boot framework


• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB


• Experience with managed database services like MongoDB Atlas


• Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry)
