Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to lead the design team in Mumbai. You will manage CAD workflows, model roadways and utilities, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality civil documents.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of drafting experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with strong BIM knowledge and team leadership skills. This is a full-time role based in Maharashtra.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer to take a leading role in our design team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in complex civil engineering projects, specifically demonstrating advanced proficiency in Civil 3D and other CAD software. The position requires a proactive, team-oriented individual who can manage CAD, design models, mentor junior staff, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced Design Execution: CAD Management, Labelling, Drawing Management, SSM, Drawing Production, Perform complex roadway and site design/ Model, including creating Feature line Grading & corridors, subassemblies, and surface cleanup/manipulation.
• Utility & Infrastructure Design: Use Civil 3D to Model/ design plans and profiles of utilities. This includes creating pipe networks, editing parts and styles, sizing catch basins and manholes, ensuring minimum cover, and drafting waterlines with deflection per jurisdictional requirements.
• Model Management: Manage data shortcuts/references, interact with complex Civil 3D surfaces, and create/edit advanced Civil 3D labels and parcels, CAD & Sheet Management work.
• Project Coordination: Coordinate extensively with subconsultants, design engineers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical design conflicts.
• Technical Evaluation: Evaluate engineering alternatives, troubleshoot software/design issues, and research jurisdictional requirements unique to each project.
• Documentation & QA/QC: Prepare, manage, and review engineering plans and project documents. Ensure all deliverables strictly adhere to BIM and CAD standards.
• Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Provide guidance and technical support to junior drafting personnel.
• Communication: Adapt to different working environments and build rapport with clients and stakeholders using professional written and spoken business English.

Qualifications

• Education: ITI, Diploma, or Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Experience: 7 to 10 years of extensive drafting and design experience involving AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infrastructure, Industrial & Aviation Projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Civil 3D software, encompassing advanced corridor modeling, pipe networks, and surface management. Comprehensive knowledge of BIM methodologies.
• Communication and Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead design coordination efforts and work collaboratively.
• Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving abilities, highly proactive, dedicated, and capable of working independently on complex tasks.
