Job summary

DMI Dräxlmaier Manufacturing India Private Limited in Maharashtra seeks an experienced Senior Buyer to manage automotive procurement, focusing on direct materials for electric/electronic systems and regional supplier development.

You will lead supplier onboarding, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reduction initiatives while coordinating with global commodities on roadmaps and projects for local and overseas programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or professional certification with 3–5 years of experience in a specialized field.
• 8+ years in automotive purchasing or supplier management, preferably in wire harness.

Responsibilities

• Develop new suppliers in the region and participate in supplier evaluation and development.
• Support establishment and expansion of commodity roadmaps in the region.
• Negotiate framework agreements and contracts with suppliers with support from legal and cross-functional teams.
• Create cost reduction measures and evaluate cost/value analyses for optimization.
• Prepare internal publications and present findings as needed.
• Identify training needs and conduct internal and external training on complex topics across regions.
• Analyze procurement structures and coordinate regional commodity roadmaps with emphasis on quality and logistics.
• Support early supplier involvement for innovation projects and new technologies.

Objective of job

• Automotive Supplier Scouting in India and Southeast Asia with focus Electric Systems
• Visit and Develop potential Suppliers together with the Supplier Quality Engineer
• Ensure and optimize the procurement of direct material within the Electric/Electronic business
• Coordinate with regional and global commodities to support oversea & local projects

Principle activities

• Develop new supplier in the region, kick-off and participate in the evaluation of suppliers as well as support in the establishment of development suppliers and their integration into the development process
• Support the Global Lead Buyer/Senior Buyer in the establishment and expansion of commodity roadmaps in the region
• Conduct negotiations with suppliers and ensure the framework agreements and contracts, if applicable with support from the legal department and in concert with supervisors and specialist departments
• Create, prepare and propose cost reduction measures in accordance with the target stipulations as well as the kick off and evaluate cost/value analyses and derive optimisation measures
• Create internal publications (e.g. documentation, etc.) and present as required
• Recognize general need for continuing education in his/her own field within the company; plan and conduct internal and external training on complex topics, both domestically and in other countries
• Support in determining and optimizing internal standards and processes within his/her own area of expertise
• Observe/identify trends in his/her area of expertise in order to develop concepts; suggest recommendations for action (e.g. observation and analysis of the respective procurement markets, etc.)
• Conduct mainly conceptual activities within his/her area of expertise
• Analyse requirements regarding the procurement structures in the respective area as well as elaborate and coordinate regional commodity roadmaps, taking into consideration qualitative and logistical aspects Support in the early integration of suppliers for innovation projects for the development of new technologies and the corresponding know how

Job Requirements

• Specialized knowledge / education: Professional/graduate education (experienced professional) usually acquired through a bachelors degree or professional certification with several (three to five) years of experience in a specialized field (highly proficient in a technical, scientific or specialized field built on a thorough understanding of theoretical concepts and principles and their context)

Work Experience

• 8+ years working experience in a purchasing department of an automotive manufacturer or automotive supplier & in procurement in wire harness business

Additional Knowledge

• Very good knowledge of English
• German knowledge is of advantage but no must
