Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. seeks a Senior BigCommerce Front-End Engineer to own storefront architecture, drive advanced customizations, and lead front-end teams in delivering high-performing, scalable commerce experiences.

You will implement headless BigCommerce solutions, integrate design systems, optimize performance and SEO, and mentor nearshore/offshore engineers while fostering an AI-augmented development culture.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of front-end engineering experience delivering enterprise commerce or experience platforms.
• Expertise in BigCommerce, headless implementations using Storefront GraphQL, REST Admin API, Channels API, and BigCommerce Widgets/App frameworks.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Next.js (or Remix), and Node.js.
• Skills in CSS-in-JS, state management (Redux, Zustand), and component-driven development (Storybook, atomic design).
• Proven success leading client-facing engagements, translating UX and business goals into technical plans.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end BigCommerce storefront architecture, including headless and native Stencil builds.
• Stand up and maintain modern front-end frameworks, API orchestration layers, and personalization hooks.
• Translate UX designs into production-quality, responsive UI with accessibility and localization requirements.
• Lead code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and enable automated testing/CI pipelines.
• Implement advanced BigCommerce customizations such as checkout flows, theme extensions, GraphQL storefront usage, and micro-frontend patterns.
• Orchestrate CMS, DAM, and marketing tool integrations to streamline content operations and merchandising updates.
• Optimize site speed, SEO, and Core Web Vitals, and maintain observability dashboards.
• Mentor nearshore/offshore front-end engineers, coordinate tasks, unblock dependencies, and foster an AI-augmented development culture.
• Capture best practices and runbooks to support onboarding and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end BigCommerce storefront architecture, including headless and native Stencil builds, design system integration, component libraries, and performance guardrails
• Stand up and maintain modern front-end frameworks, API orchestration layers, and personalization hooks that power dynamic, omnichannel experiences
• Translate UX designs into production-quality, responsive UI with attention to accessibility and localization/internationalization requirements
• Lead code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and enable automated testing/CI pipelines for storefront repositories
• Implement advanced BigCommerce customizations such as checkout flows, theme extensions, GraphQL storefront API usage, micro-frontend patterns, and third-party app integrations
• Orchestrate CMS, DAM, and marketing tool integrations to streamline content operations, campaigns, and PIM-driven merchandising updates
• Optimize site speed, SEO, and Core Web Vitals, and maintain observability dashboards for proactive issue detection
• Mentor nearshore/offshore front-end engineers, coordinate day-to-day tasks, unblock dependencies, and foster an AI-augmented development culture
• Capture best practices, runbooks, and playbooks that support transition, onboarding, and continuous improvement without disrupting BAU releases

Requirements

• 5–10 years of overall front-end engineering experience delivering enterprise commerce or experience platforms
• Expertise in BigCommerce, including headless implementations using Storefront GraphQL, REST Admin API, Channels API, and BigCommerce Widgets/App frameworks
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Next.js (or Remix), and Node.js
• Skills in CSS-in-JS, state management (Redux, Zustand), and component-driven development (Storybook, atomic design)
• Proven success leading client-facing engagements, with the ability to translate UX and business goals into technical plans and articulate trade-offs in real time
• Demonstrated capabilities delivering resilient, high-performing frontend experiences integrated with MACH services (CMS, search, personalization engines, CDP/CRM, DAM)
• Strong command of responsive design, accessibility, SEO, analytics tagging, and A/B testing enablement
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CircleCI)
• Familiarity with automated testing (Jest, Playwright/Cypress) and performance optimization tools (Lighthouse, WebPageTest)
• Nice to have Exposure to cloud AI-enabled experiences, personalization engines, or conversational/agentic commerce solutions
• Familiarity with Shopify, commercetools, or SAP Commerce and ability to cross-pollinate composable best practices
• Knowledge of retail/promotional calendars, multi-lingual content operations, and store-level digital tactics
• Experience with design ops, Figma-to-code workflows, and design system governance
• Comfort leveraging AI copilots and automation to accelerate development and regression coverage
