Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Backend Engineer to build and maintain scalable services and APIs powering sports intelligence products for internal teams and external clients in Mumbai.

You will design API contracts, ensure versioning and backward compatibility, implement caching and observability, and collaborate across data, ML, product, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping backend services in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs, including API versioning and backward compatibility.
• Good understanding of caching, performance optimisation, and scalability in read-heavy systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerised application deployment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, automated testing, and observability tools.
• Strong understanding of production software engineering practices.
• Ability to work independently from technical specifications and proactively clarify ambiguous requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Work from product and technical specifications while identifying gaps and asking the right questions when requirements are incomplete.

Background and Experience:

Required
