Job summary

Repurpose.io is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications using TypeScript and NestJS. You will own components through their full lifecycle and contribute to robust microservices and event-driven architectures on AWS.

The role requires deep knowledge of NestJS, AWS deployment, and strong TDD practices, with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and collaboration in agile teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years backend development with TypeScript.
• 3+ years NestJS core backend tech.
• Proven experience deploying and supporting NestJS on AWS.
• Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on with TDD and automated testing.
• Solid grasp of SOLID, KISS, YAGNI, lean principles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering to refine requirements, solution designs, and user stories.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend apps using TypeScript and NestJS.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, production-ready code following engineering best practices.
• Apply SOLID, KISS, YAGNI, and lean software development principles.
• Follow true TDD and ensure code is thoroughly tested before release.

• Build, deploy, and operate NestJS apps on AWS.
• Own components through the complete lifecycle from development to production support.
• Provide L3 production support for owned components and contribute to L1/L2 knowledge bases.
• Ensure delivered features are ready to ship without manual testing dependencies.
• Balance engineering quality with pragmatism and business needs.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and reviews.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of backend development experience, with strong hands‑on experience in TypeScript.
• 3+ years of professional experience with NestJS as a core backend technology.
• Strong understanding of NestJS architecture, concepts, patterns, and use cases.
• Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting NestJS applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event‑driven systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and commitment to clean, maintainable code.
• Hands‑on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.
• Strong understanding and practical application of SOLID, KISS, YAGNI, and lean software development principles.
• Experience working in Agile, Lean, or startup environments where speed, pragmatism, and engineering quality need to be balanced.
• Strong ownership mindset with experience taking backend services from development through production and support.
• Advanced proficiency with Claude Code.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Good to Have:

• Frontend development experience with Next.js .
• Experience in infrastructure architecture and high‑level solution design.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform.
• Broader exposure to cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and distributed systems.
