Job summary

Acuity Analytics seeks a capable Java Developer to join a global team building a pre-execution sales-trader workflow system for structuring, valuing and matching voice deals across Interest Rate products. You will deliver functional and non-functional requirements and own modules on short Agile cycles.

The role involves Java development with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and OpenShift; contributing to CI/CD and test-driven development while collaborating with traders, analysts and IT partners.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in Computer Science or a similar engineering discipline.
• 5–7 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong core Java development skills including streams, lambdas and advanced concurrency APIs.
• Experience with distributed systems and multi-threaded asynchronous applications.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and OpenShift.
• Experience with test-driven development and CI/CD on large systems.
• Ability to deliver software on short cycles using Scrum/Agile.

We are seeking a capable, hands-on Java Developer to join a global team building a pre-execution sales-trader workflow system for structuring, valuing and matching voice deals across Interest Rate products for a leading corporate and investment bank. Operating as an extension of the client’s Sales & Trading Business Platforms team in a resource-augmentation model, the developer will deliver functional and non-functional requirements, contribute to the extensibility and reliability of software solutions, and grow ownership of assigned modules on short Agile cycles. The role suits a self-driven engineer who can quickly understand requirements, work with minimal supervision, and collaborate closely with traders, analysts and IT partners.

Key responsibilities

• Hands-on development using Java (Java 25) as the primary language to build and enhance the preexecution sales-trader workflow platform for Interest Rate products
• Deliver functional and non-functional requirements while maintaining the extensibility, reliability and performance of software solutions
• Develop and maintain distributed, multi-threaded, asynchronous applications using Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and OpenShift
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the development and release environment, tooling and CI/CD processes on large, complex systems
• Apply test-driven development and deliver software on short cycles using Scrum/Agile methodology
• Work closely with traders, business/functional analysts, product owners and other IT partners; provide level-3 production support as required
• Perform JVM monitoring, profiling, performance tuning and debugging using tools such as JConsole, JVisualVM, Elasticsearch/Logstash, Prometheus and OpenTracing
• Collaborate with development leads and cross-regional teams (Risk, Quants, DevOps, Finance, Regulatory Reporting), balancing project work, BAU and support tasks efficiently
• Educated to degree level in Computer Science or a similar engineering discipline
• 5 to 7 years of relevant hands-on software development experience
• Strong fundamental computer science knowledge including concurrency, algorithms and data structures
• Strong core Java development skills including streams, lambdas and advanced concurrency APIs
• Extensive experience and understanding of distributed systems - developing, profiling and maintaining multi-threaded, asynchronous applications
• Hands-on experience of working with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and OpenShift
• Extensive experience of test-driven development and knowledge of CI/CD on large, complex systems
• Ability to deliver software on short cycles using Scrum/Agile methodology
• JVM monitoring, profiling, performance tuning and debugging (JConsole, JVisualVM, Elasticsearch/Logstash, Prometheus, OpenTracing)
• Self-driven and proactive, able to work independently with minimal supervision, with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

Good to have:

• Experience in the pricing or risk domain in investment banking - front-office, or Market/Credit risk with a good understanding of risk sensitivities and F2B processes
• Hands-on experience with dynamic scalability and cloud deployment (EKS/Nomad), container/Docker deployment, gRPC services, or cloud-based services (Prometheus, Elasticsearch)
• Experience with Kafka or other event processing/message bus
• Experience with Workflow/Scheduling/State management
