Job summary

Acuity Accounting & Analytics is hiring an experienced Senior Accounting Associate to independently manage multiple US client accounts from Kolkata. You will review month-end work, guide junior staff, and lead the close process ensuring accurate financial statements and timely deliveries.

You will collaborate with our India and US teams, apply US GAAP knowledge, and maintain high accuracy while meeting strict deadlines. This full-time, on-site role starts immediately in Kolkata.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce.
• 10+ years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, or auditing experience.
• Strong experience in reviewing month-end closes and financial statements.
• Experience managing or reviewing the work of junior team members.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and US accounting principles would be an added advantage.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage bookkeeping and accounting for multiple US clients.
• Review weekly bookkeeping and month-end work completed by junior team members.
• Lead the month-end close process and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Review bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledgers, suspense accounts, accruals, and prepayments.
• Identify errors, missing entries, unusual balances, and reconciliation issues.
• Ensure financial statements are accurate and ready for management review.
• Provide clear review notes and ensure corrections are completed.
• Train, mentor, and support junior accounting team members.
• Monitor recurring errors and recommend process improvements.
• Communicate directly with clients and lead meetings regarding deliverables and accounting queries.
• Collaborate closely with our India and US teams.

What You’ll Own

What You Bring

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce
• Minimum 10 years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, or auditing experience
• Strong experience in reviewing month-end closes and financial statements
• Experience managing or reviewing the work of junior team members
• Knowledge of US GAAP and US accounting principles would be an added advantage
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal English communication
• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet strict deadlines

Preferred

• Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop
• Experience working with US-based clients and India/US teams
• Experience with accounting tools such as Bill.com, Gusto, Karbon, Shopify, or Amazon Seller Central
• Experience developing SOPs, review checklists, and process improvements
